Comment by jaylweb on November 11, 2011 at 10:36am I keep hearing on the various talk shows and conservative news shows that Republicans desperately want to find the next Ronald Reagan. For me, that is Ron Paul. Reagan wasn't perfect and had his fair share of mistakes, but as a whole, he did a great job. Perhaps not all of Ron Paul's plans are ideal for everyone, but as a whole, I strongly believe he would do the best job.
I liked Cain at first, but there's something about him that I simply don't trust. Call it a gut instinct. And for the record, I believe the harassment claims are fictitious and are coming from one of the other Republican candidates campaigns (my heart tells me Perry).
Ron Paul has more support this time around than last election. I pray he can break through the media blackout. (At least they have him in the debates!)
Comment by Ray Kirkus on November 10, 2011 at 11:01pm Now for the Herman Cain supporters.. Herman Cain is not an outsider. He is in essence a Wallsteeter , A former Fed chair and one who supported the TARP bailouts. A major issue for true tea party favorites. Even this letter which was circulated this evening is not Cain's "bold" plan, but Ron Paul's recommended budget in a nutshell. Eliminating departments and sending power back to the states is Ron Paul's budget saving a trillion dollars in the first year not some 10 year down the line savings. Funny how all the talking points have now been taken from Ron Paul and used by all the other candidates while still calling him fringe. How can someone who's ideas are parroted by everyone else running be considered fringe. Even Perry looked at Paul last night when he didn't know which departments to cut. Cain caint and it would be a huge mistake to put another bank insider in the white house replacing a the current corporatist dictator in there now. This is what Greece has done, turned the countyr over to a banker. Cain is not original nor is he honest. He was caught in lies about his statements about the federal reserve in the last debate so he is , like Romney a flip flopper, just like everyone else, except of course Ron Paul, the most consistent and most idealogical man in Congress ar maybe all of Washington. Don't buy the media hype, buy the truth and honesty offered to you. If you choose to really do some research you will find that Paul has the most knowledge about the economic system and the tax system and the banking system and how all of these systems are used to fleece the middle and working classes. He has promoted the same message for 30 years and most of what he has predicted has come true , but more economic turmoil is on the way as well, much more.
Comment by Sherry Williams on November 10, 2011 at 10:59pm Thanks Ray, I posted this to our group page ( Twin Cities) and the event page.
Comment by Ray Kirkus on November 10, 2011 at 10:31pm First things first. I tried to post on the correct event page, but could not so I hope someone who control;s the site can copy this info to the right place. The informal, unofficial straw poll taken after the Nov 10th meeting has Herman Cain with 43% of the vote, Ron Paul with 26%, Newt Gingrich with 17%, Mitt Romney with 8% and Michelle Bachmann with 4%. Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and John Huntsman received no votes at all. Please pass this on and we have more work to do.
Comment by Brett Pepper on November 10, 2011 at 1:40pm Thanks Jenni for the reply...
I just don't understand how being in 135 countries with 900 millitary bases is doing God's work. I spent time in Haiti building a church and school shortly after 9/11 and sharing an incredible spiritual experience with human beings. I was fully supporting the Iraq invasion because I thought they had weapons of mass destruction and the image of the twin towers collapsing was still fresh in my mind. My pastor quikly reminded me that war and violence is not the answer and I'm still grateful to this day for that moment of clarity.
I began to do research on why we were attacked because I never fully believed they hated us because we were free. What you find out after extensive research is they hate us because we have been over there taking their natural resources, building bases and arming dictators with endless capital (at our expense) and weapons. We have to look in the mirror as a country and recognize what we have become.
We have no moral compass anymore: 1.5 million dead Iraqis, 51 million abortions, Mass corruption with the Federal Reserve and corporations, TSA Sticking their hands down our children's pants (google it), Drones killing civilians, drug dealing CIA..it goes on and on and on....Dyncorp runs child kid- naping rings for sex slaves for the elites. I'm sorry but this is who we have gotten in bed with. Just look at Penn State....Most of the students think Joe Paterno shouldn't be fired....No one cares anymore that children are being raped. I pray those who would cause any child this kind of suffering the ultimate justice when they meet our creator. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD.
God help us!
In Liberty...
Comment by Christine Paver on November 10, 2011 at 1:21pm Yes we Cain!
Comment by Clarence Wentzel on November 10, 2011 at 11:24am Is the rally at 2:15 or 12:15. The tv said 12:15 this morning.
Comment by Janet Blazen on November 10, 2011 at 9:45am Jenni, Yes, Ron Paul has been in office for a long time. If you look back at his record you will see that he predicted ALL that is happening in America. It didn't sound good and for that reason, no one wanted to listen to him. It's pretty common for people to listen to ONLY the good sounding "stuff" and disregard the "bad", but it WILL come back and bite us in the ____!
As far as his foreign policy, there is more to it than people understand.
The Jewish "people" were the chosen ones, NOT those running their government. Just like the American "people" are good but maybe NOT those running their government ?
This is the best way that I can explain it. There are MANY Christians who know the difference.........Me for one !
When the leaders of one government decides to have a war with the leaders of another government they "both" make their case to it's people that "sounds" good. They, themselves, are all safe and secure with their BIG GUNS to protect them. But it's the innocents that pay the toll with their lives, limb, taxes, homes, jobs and FREEDOM.
Sound familiar ?
Comment by Jenni Pant on November 10, 2011 at 8:39am To Janet:
I think that it is great that you are very fired up about these issues!
This is what I mean by baggage, and my apologies for not expanding on this further in my earlier comment:
By baggage, I mean political baggage. Obama has been in office since 1997. Paul has been in office on and off since I believe the 1970s (Please correct me if I am wrong). All of the candidates have political baggage in some way, shape or form. I was in no way criticizing his reputation etc.
I believe that Ron Paul has a great voting record that he stands by what he says. I just do not agree with him on all of the issues.
I also have to consider: Who will defeat Obama? There is no question that ALL of us want Obama out of office.
Paul has also run for president previously, and was unsuccessful.
At this point, I am standing behind Herman Cain. With that said, I will still have an open mind, and keep watching each candidate very closely, as I hope you will as well.
Again, it is great that you are very fired up, and I think that we can both agree that we want the same thing:
OBAMA OUT OF OFFICE!
To Brett:
I believe that as Christians, there are very many references in the Bible to defending the Holy Land against the Palestinians and the Middle East. If we, as a country bow down to the Middle East and do not defend ourselves or the people that God blesses many times throughout the Bible, we will perish.
We will perish from the Middle East seeing us no longer as a threat, and we will perish from not listening to what scripture tells us.
What is great about this country, we all do have the freedom to have different beliefs, backgrounds, pursuit of opportunities, etc. Let's all keep up the good fight and make sure we do not let another administration take away more of our freedoms!
To Janet & Brett: If I do not comment back right away, I am not ignoring in any way shape or form, but I work full time to support my family, and do not get on this site very often.
Thanks to everyone for the great, civil discussion! I hear the frustration from the Paul folks in trying to get their message out - stay fired up and work for your candidate.
Me, I'm still undecided, as is SWMIPATS. Cain is not SWMIPATS candidate - none of them are. All the candidates are represented through most of the TPs that I know of. The time to choose is soon, however.
I'm helping out at the Cain event for two reasons; one, to see the man up close and personal and secondly so that the event goes well so that those involved leave Kalamazoo with a good feeling. I'd probably do the same for any of the other candidates...
