> LANSING – The Michigan Senate Democratic Caucus, represented by Detroit Sen. Bert Johnson, will join Kalamazoo school board member Mark Totten in holding a town hall meeting on the future of school funding in Michigan.
>
> The 7 to 8:30 p.m. forum is set for Oct. 3 at the Linden Grove Middle School, 4241 Arboretum Parkway on Kalamazoo's west side.
>
> Other school and elected officials have been invited to attend.
>
> Organizers of the event say state funding for education is one of the most important issues facing the Michigan Legislature.
>
> The town hall meeting  is intended to give residents and local leaders a chance to share their views and hear from each other, according to a news release promoting the forum.
>
> Kalamazoo Public Schools superintendent Michael Rice and Ron Fuller, superintendent of the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency, are school leaders expected to attend.
>
> Organizers say they've also invited to the event the other Kalamazoo county superintendents along with House Speaker Jase Bolger, R-Marshall; Rep. Sean McCann, D-Kalamazoo; Rep. Margaret O’Brien, R-Portage and Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker, R-Antwerp Township.

> Linden Grove Middle School, on Arboretum Parkway, is located off South Drake Road and north of KL Avenue in the Arcadia neighborhood.
