It is very important; the chair is an important post.  The past few years has had a money raiser in it and he neglected the party structure.  Bobby (naughty contributions and all) has promised that he will support Steve in rebuilding the party structure and strengthen it for 2012.  There are many things to consider in winning the presidential and the senatorial races in Michigan.  I do not think that Schostak's contributions to Debbie or Al Gore will count for much amongst the total uproar of the campaigns.

What will count is campaign money and boots on the ground.

Look, I, like most of you, hate the internals of politics, but I am learning.  I also know that it is an old art (second oldest? LOL)  and has not changed much, if at all since the days of Cicero near the end of the Roman Republic.  I campaigned for Hoogendyk last summer and was dumbfounded by how many folks who are registered voters, have no idea what the issues are nor even who their reps are.  We in the Tea Party have chosen the GOP to be our tool to get that voter out to vote for OUR guys.  It is my conviction that Bobby is who we need to do that for us.

We appreciate the input on the candidates that Gene has put out, but also agree with him that we all need to do our own homework.  Hopefully the meeting on the 26th will give us more information on the candidates.  We are still concerned about the contributions Mr. Schostak has given to extremely liberal candidates, as recently as 2007.  As Jack Hoogendyk has said, the Dems will use that against him in 2010, especially with Debbie Stabenow's re-election bid, saying that she is so bi-partisan that even the Rep. Party Chairman contributed to her.  Has Mr. Schostak had a true "conversion" or is he following the money?  Go to MI GOP Watch and the Republican Michigander for some articles on him, and there is also an interview with Troy Rolling on one of those sites.  You can find all of Mr. Schotak's individual campaign contributions, as well as those of his family PAC online also. Jack has told us that Mr. Rolling is a solid conservative Christian and will do right for the party.  Do your best to meet both candidates and ask them pointed questions.  In our book integrity counts for a lot!

I'd like that, Scott, Please post! I got a GOP phone survey today of who I was going to vote for in the top 3 slots.

Seems like the side of politics I'm not too fond of---cards close to the vest and jockeying for position, if I may mix my metaphors.

Gene,

You met with most of these folks so far. We have some insights, but not enough for a good decision. The only one true tea partier is Steven K. Some are now tea partiers that I've never heard of (Norm S.) and claim to help defeat the fake tea party. Will the Wed meeting clear this up?

I am asking questions as they barrage me with emails. Some responses are good, some don't bother. Maybe we should start posting the responses on the forum site.

I agree with Pioneer Girl and Abigail Nobel. I at this time intend to attend your get together the night before at the Perkins Restaurant to hopefully find some of this out. Unless we or anyone (specifically) personally knows someone running for positions at the State Level we really know nothing about them.

(Everyone) purpoits to be a conservative and supports what we do as Tea Party members. I am leary of many who wait untill last minute and try to get our support.

I already have the schedule on the GOP site above,  what I want to know is WHO and WHAT we will be voting on.  Nothing about that there.

I agree with PioneerGirl. I really hate the feeling of mysterious anticipation until suddenly being railroaded at the event. So please---bring on the info!

If your name appears on the delegate list, you will be getting a blizzard of email, believe me.  I do not know if you will be getting any info from the GOP.  You can go to their web site, listed in the heading here and get a lot of information.

Jim Lefler (also on this site) is putting together a meeting for all convention delegates next week.  Look for information from him soon.
