Please RSVP at this web page.  We have some who need to register and who are not members of this web site (but get our newsletters or have the info passed on to them by other friends) and so we came up with an alternate way to get an attendance estimate.  Thanks.

Hi Folks

The most  recent issue of IMPRIMIS came yesterday and I think it may have a bearing on my suggestion of cooperation between Tea Party and Knights of Columbus.   The date of the IMPRIMIS is March 2011,  Volume 40, #3.

The title is "The Not So Dismal Science: Humanitarians v. Economists"   I know the title does not soundc very relevant, but the content is interesting.

The last two paragraphs in the IMPRIMIS issue are given below.

"One does not  have to be an economist to recognize that societies that open their markets are better fed, better houseed, and offer greater oppportunities for  upward moblity than societies tht remain closed and bureaucratic.  Nor does one have to be a religious believer to recognize that the source of all man's wealth has been just this:

That he does not take the world as given but uses his mind to find new and creative ways to take from the earth and add to its bounty".

"If, however, we do believe, can we really be surprised that the Almighty who created us in His image also bequeathed to us a world where we are most prosperous when we are most free?"

Perhaps??

I did forget the date on the update letter; my bad.  Just want to let everyone know that we will have check in open at noon on the 30th as we want to start right at 1pm as we have a lot of information to put out and we want folks to have time to freely talk over what is presented and new ideas before we close up at 5pm.

Thanks for the newsletter, Gene! btw---no date on it, so it was great to be linked here.

While I would be uncomfortable with official ties to specific religious organizations, I agree with the goals stated below, and feel it could be expressed even more broadly. Noah Webster: "No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

I agree with John Clark, too. Robert Winthrop (1809-94, Speaker of the House) said it well: "Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without [outside] them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet."

Hi Gene

I am also a member ( 3rd degree ) of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Mens Organization.   The KOC is devoted to protecting the Catholic ( and Christian) faith.  I wonder if cooperation between the KOC and the Tea Party to fight the effects of radical Islam would make sense.  Just a thought.
