Liberty and Freedom
"The Compassionate Conservative: A Bush Family Insider's Conversion to the Ron Paul Revolution," Doug Wead was active behind-the-scenes player in George W. Bush's 2000 candidacy, and was coauthor of a book with George Herbert Walker Bush and served as Special Assistant to the President in the senior Bush White House. He was also Ronald Reagan's biographer in the 1980 book, "Reagan: In Pursuit of the Presidency."
Mr. Wead will discuss his life as an operative in seven presidential campaigns, as a historian and Bush family friend, and his motivation to get involved with the Ron Paul campaign in its role as the future of conservatism in America.
"Mr. Wead brings an important and unique perspective to this campaign. Ron Paul's message has brought hundreds of thousands of new voices into the American conservative movement, a message the 'old guard' urgently needs to hear and understand. Doug Wead is the gentleman to bring that to them," commented Adam de Angeli, the campaign's Michigan Coordinator.
"Ron Paul's message of constitutionalism, limited government, balanced budgets, and free markets, echoes that of the Tea Party movement, but the movement is not united behind any candidate yet," said Gene Clem of the Southwest Michigan Tea Party, which is promoting the event to its members. "We are very interested in what Mr. Wead has to say."
The Southwest Michigan Tea Party is one of the largest Tea Party groups in Michigan, with over 1600 members.
