Hello Delegates,

Friday night the Michigan Tea Party Alliance will be hosting a pre-convention gathering for any and all interested Tea Party and 9/12 delegates. We are not a political party but a group of concerned Americans that have taken an active step in involving ourselves in the political process. Part of that process being to support and hopefully put in office, the candidates that best represent our values and principles.

We are looking to provide as much information about each candidate as possible to help equip delegates in making your decision on who to vote for at the convention on Saturday.

We are in the process of inviting AG and SoS candidates to appear and give us their best argument of why we should vote for them. We will then seek to determine if there is a consensus best candidate to vote for on Saturday. Many of these candidates are close in qualifications and if we determine that one of them is preferred by the majority, we may decide to vote as a block on Saturday just to make sure one of our favorites can win.

This evening is also a coming together in celebration of the hard work over the past year and that you answered the call to get involved at this very important level.

Agenda and details are to follow very shortly. But the time and place is secured.

Seated and Alternate delegates to the State GOP convention will be admitted. We will check against our lists.

For any family members, guests or special requests, you will need to get a pass issued by the Tea Party organization you are a member of. Because of limited space visitors may or may not be allowed in.

Comment by Gene Clem on August 26, 2010 at 12:09pm: Credentials Friday Night: you will not have them yet as they are given to you when you check in Sat. morning. You will be checked in via a list of state delegates that we have constructed.

1. Please print and take the County results with you as well as your letter of credential from the County Clerk. If anyone asks for your state credentials on Friday night, these will be all we have to certify ourselves. We will pick up our State Credentials at the Breslin Student Center on Saturday AM.
2. Please attend the tea party meeting Friday night which has invited the AG and SOS candidates to appear and answer questions Friday night.. We want to do our best to support our choices--most especially, Cameron Brown for SOS. Of all the races, SOS is the most important. George Soros has targeted the MI SOS race and is out to win it. If he does, you can be sure that we will be deluged with “vote undocumented, same day, early, often, in many places,
3. People have asked about appropriate dress. On Friday evening, I will wear a shirt and slacks. On Saturday, I will wear a suit. This is an important occasion and we want to reflect that in our dress. Generally, we want to be as presentable as possible.

4. At 7 AM on Saturday, the doors open at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center, One Birch Road, East Lansing, Michigan 48824. There is also a breakfast provided by Cameron Brown and Terri Lynn Land 7-9 am on Saturday.

5. I would suggest you be there as early as possible to make sure that you receive your State Credentials. After you have done that, try to find your caucus

6. We all remember how difficult it was to follow things at the county convention. It will be many times worse at the State Convention. There will 5 or 10 times as many people. We are meeting in a gymnasium so it will be very difficult to hear.

We must remember to do the things at the State that worked so well for us at the County: come prepared, stay vigilant from the beginning to the very end (if there are any sneaky moves made, they will be made when they think we aren’t paying attention), look out for one another, stick together, vote together, watch our leaders and take cues from them in case a floor fight develops. We lost one delegate at County because she didn’t hear her name called in the roll. We have less people to concentrate on now so let’s make sure all our people present are entered on the roll.
To all of us attending and all of our fellow compatriots cheering for us at home, please pray for us to comport ourselves well and to vote and act so that we help to save this wonderful country and bring it ever closer Constitutional, limited, and fiscally responsible government

The last time I had to wait on credentials from the State GOP was when I was to be a poll watcher [2008]. They arrived in the morning on the same day when I was supposed to already be at the polls.
