Tia: my thoughts exactly, as I was typing my comment re the Civil War--the Revolutionary War. But both were for freedom--that's what I thought--and I don't know of Rev War Reenactors....only Civil War ones. Looking forward to meeting you at the 5/2 meeting.

I really like the Civil War Reenactment idea. That would speak volumes, too--a good reminder that people today care enough too to go the limit for our freedoms, our families, our country--to protect all from the Socialist/Communist Complete Takeover.

Ok, I'm convinced. I have been leaning toward a big event, but that probably would be something better to have closer to the 2010 elections.
As far as medievel stuff, I don't know. What I do know is that Hastings has some awsome Civil War reanactments. I went a few years ago and they had some impersonators there that really impressed me. Maybe worth looking into. I'll check it out. Feedback please.
P.S. this Lincoln look alike came up behind me and started giving me the fore scores speech and it floored me. I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time. The guy was unbelievable. I only laughed because he was a spitting image.
Its too bad we can't find Revolutionary War reinactors, they would speak more too our intent. But Civil War reinactors are cool too. We need to remember that a little sacrifice of our time such as handing out flyers or whatever, is nothing to what past generations have given up for love of country.
Now I understand what you meant about the King's adventure--after our rally, those who wish to attend or can afford to do so, may go there to continue the celebration. Thanks for the explanation--much clearer now.

My idea was to offer this as an event that folks could choose to attend after the rally and other activities. Yeah, it cost $7 to get in I think.

Gene: Your comment leads me to believe that anyone attending or wanting to get into the Kings Stadium will have to have a ticket? If so, that would be prohibitive for an awful lot of people and we'd diminish our ability to attrack a lot of citizens. Your comments?

This is the link to a revolutionary war group based out of Ohio that does have members in Mishigan and puts on displays here. I am hesitant to contact them because I don't represent our group, but if you want to cantact them Gene then their email is tip@neo.rr.com If they aren't available during the forth of July then maybe they know a group that is. They have a nice webpage.

I am having a hard time finding group based out of Michigan, I know there is one because I used to know a guy that was involved in a group out of Ann Arbor, but I can't find his email :( But I will keep looking to see if I can't find anymore.

There is also an interesting Group here in Michigan. The 21st Michigan Volunteer Company H, they were the only all black Michigan Company during the Civil War, and now work as reinactors. Their website is down for maintenence but their email is 21stmichigan@gmail.com

I'll keep looking, but I would rather have someone else do the contacting, Thnx :)
Keep the info coming Tia. I've got e-mails out there to a couple of groups and haven't had a responce yet. Even if I do, it may not be what we are looking for. We need to contact everyone we can.
I have a facebook friend who responded that his band may agree to play on the 4th, gratis. Here is their web page:

33rd Street Band.

FYI.
Oh my Gosh Gene, the 33rd St Band is awesome!! I am listening to clips off of their website and they are great!!! I would love to see them there. (Maybe they will get a new fan :) !! Black Magic Woman, I am putting a request in for that one right now lol.
Gene: I lisened to the 33rd St. Band's offering of "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is (does anybody really care)...and that might be a good "theme" to follow for the rallies...???

They seem to be picking up steam on Facebook as a center website for July Tea Parties.
Have you heard about Neal Boortz's citizenship test? It is in his book "Somebody's Got To Say It."

Would that be a good candidate for activites on the 4th?
