Southwest MI Patriots

Liberty and Freedom

    Convention March 1, 2011

Dr. Scott Davis was nominated and voted in as President of the convention with Al Sandberg as Parliamentarian and Roseann Marchetti as the Recording Secretary. Dr. Davis convened the convention at 7:08 pm.  Nominations for the Board were taken from the audience and those who had earlier expressed interest. They were:

Curt Jacobi                          Cap Doorn

Al Sandberg                        Wally Berndt

Dianne Conneck               Todd Griffee

Dean Leitz                           Jerry Duck

Aaron Horner

Ballots were distributed and after a count by Jerry Bolock, the winners were declared. There was a tie between Jerry Duck and Al Sandberg.  Dr. Davis moved and Todd Griffee seconded that both Duck and Sandberg serve.  The motion passed unanimously.

The Board members are the following: Scott Davis, Susan Flowers, Curt Jacobi, Cap Doorn, Al Sandberg, Wally Berndt, Todd Griffee and Jerry Duck.

Scott was elected chair, Susan Flowers elected vice chair, Curt Jacobi was elected treasurer and Wally Berndt was elected recorder of the Cass County Tea Party Patriots.

The convention closed at 7:30 pm followed by a workshop with State Representative Matt Lori.

Respectfully,

On February 17, 2011, the following name were placed into nomination for 2011-12 Board members of Cass Co 912 Tea Party:

Dr. Scott Davis; Susan Flowers; Curt Jacobi; Cap Doorn; Jerry Duck; Todd Griffee; Al Sandberg; Wally Berndt; Aaron Horner.

Any other nominations must be known and announced before the 3/1/11 election, which should happen at 7:15 PM.

Following the election, a vote to change the 3rd Thursday board meeting to the 3rd Wednesday. Then, Rep. Matt Lori will conduct his legislative seminar.

Dr. Scott requested nominations begin on 2/1/11 for elections of board members on 3/1/11 during 2010 and 1/11 meetings.

The 2/1/11 meeting was cancelled due to blizzard. However, the nomination process is now open for any member of Cass Co 912 Tea Party. Members must be dues paying members of Southwest Michigan Tea Party Patriots, and attend meetings on a regular basis. Not to be too broad here, but if you come to the meetings at least once a month, and have given $25 a year or more to the parent group, you qualify.

Let's start with the existing board members:

Dr. Scott Davis - Chair;

Susan Flowers - Vice Chair;

Curt Jacobi - Treasurer;

Cap Doorn - Board;

Chuck Konneck - Board;

Jerry Duck - Board;

Mary Martin - (resigned);

Marty Mullinax and Shirley Duis (absent for more than 3 months).

Some suggesting they might be willing to serve in some capacity:

Al Sandberg; Flena Rubalcaba; Bob Newton; Dean Lietz; Sue Smith; Scott Quimby; Karen Langley; Harry Stemple; Mark Jamrog.

We have a diverse group of members now and I expect a large influx of new members in the very near future. As we begin to reach out to the Reagan Dems, Independents, students, and others that feel disenfranchised by the progressive liberals in power, we need our best leaders in place. We must begin the process of beating Obama/StabMeNow in 2012. The planning and preparations taking place now will guide us through this year's rallies, parades, events, and outreach.

Also, our committees are taking shape and will begin meeting in the next month or so. Should you want to serve on any of these, please sign up at the next meeting. The committees are:

2012 Candidate Committee; Community Care Committee; Issues Committee; Legislative Committee (broken by local, State, and National).

If you would like to nominate anyone to the board, you can use this forum to do so or use the 2/17/11  or 3/1/11 meetings to do so.

Nominations are now open:

I will be nominating Wally Berndt to fill an open position on the board. He has served on a national board of engineers as their chair. He is active and ready to serve the Tea Party. We have many folks to choose from, and I've listed many above.

If anyone wants to serve, call me.

I'd like to nominate Aaron Horner, the president of the SMC College Republicans, for a seat on the board. I know him to be a very conservative and god-fearing man with dedication to our principles. He also has a talent for the technology stuff, and I'm betting he would help out with that. I don't think he knows about this website though, so somebody ought to tell him to sign up here. I'll try if I see him.
got it - thank you

Make sure you all make it to the March 1, meeting.

Hi Robert,

I am trying to place you, but so far I am drawing a blank. When was the last time you came to a meeting?

Is Todd Griffee a resident of Cass County? I thought he wasn't. If not he is not eligible to be a board member according to the SWMTPP by-laws. A person must reside within the jurisdiction.

Diane, Is this in the bylaws posted on the main page of this site? If not, can you tell me where to find them?

Todd comes to just about every meeting we have and associates himself often with us, as you know. That's probably why he was nominated. Please help me with the bylaws eligibility as I did not find it in the current rules.

Yes, it is under the section Membership. As one who would belong to SWMTPP must reside in the 6th District it would follow that to be on a County Chapter Board one would need to reside within that particular jurisdiction. One cannot vote either. It only makes sense, otherwise one could belong to several chapters, sit on their boards and manipulate outcomes.

I nominate Diane K. for Secretary/Scribe

Scott, you indicated nominations must be made before March 1 meeting, nominations from the floor are always and should be welcome.
hey I don't want the job, would make a better parlimentarian,  is just cause I helped write the bylaws I am familiar with them, they are brief and easy to understand once you familiarize yourself with them.
Yes, I agree
