Many people are not aware that we have another of our members running for congress in the 6th congressional district.  He is Mel Valkner.

Mel needs help with his campaign.  His web site is www.thecommanman.org  You can go there to send a donation or sign up to help with campaign activities.

Mel is one of the original Kalamazoo Tea Party folks and was, in fact, the first Treasurer.  He decided early on that he would sacrifice his time and treasure to help right the ship of state.  He is a worthy candidate and can really use your help in his campaign, so please contribute and/or volunteer at his web page.

At this point in time, it is TOO LATE to put up a StateWide UNKNOWN for voting. You may not want Upton, but you will get the Democrat by this this. May I remind you of what Tea Party split did with Bouchard? Also his flyer says 67% polling shows people will vote for a 3rd party, I call him out to show the exact polling data he used.

Hey if we don't win this time at least we voted our concious knowing that Upton is an insider and a career politician. We can no longer vote for the lesser of two evils just to beat a Democrat. This is how RINOs continue to dominate the Republican party. This is where we have to understand that we can't change things over night and we have to have the longview of history and know that REAL change takes time. We all want to stop the imbalance of power but electing more Washington insiders isn't going to get it done. Showing folks like Upton that we are willing to vote for an unkown will make for a better Fred Upton. Just because Mel "can't win" doesn't mean he isn't the most conservative and represents the views and ideas of the Tea Party.

Susan, you need to stop settling for less and vote for the best candidate while you have one. This is why established RINO's continue to get re-elected. If Cooney wins then so be it. We will defeat him in 2 years with a quality candidate!

I have never heard anything so stupid in my life! With the quality of candidates I have seen this tea party site support, you will never win an election. Gene Clem recommends Mel because he was the first Treasurer? Now that is an impressive resume. I wish this group would get smart and start acting like Patriots instead of disgruntled children. We have America to Defend, not personal vendettas.

Sorry! I must play the team sport. We the people must understand that infiltrating the Republican party is our only choice; third parties will simply divide us. If Mel wishes to play the game in the big leagues he must first get on a team in the big leagues. We have primaries.

United we stand, divided we fall! We must win in the primaries. We must work from the ground up. When did the Tea Party begin! How long has it been in existance! Any signs that it is shrinking!? It's all about the Constitution!!!!!!!!!!!! The word is getting out. We have not lost our Nation yet and it still functions a certain way and we must adhere to these ways or we are nothing more than a whistle in the wind of history. Gotta play smart people; gotta play smart!

If Mel Valkner wins the Republican Primary in two years I might vote for him then. I played four years of Semi Professional football and I am a team player and sometimes we simply need to continue building the team until we have the right players to win. Maybe I have mistaken the Tea party for people concerned about this country and getting back to the Constitution. That is the playbook I am playing from; do y'all have a different playbook; are y'all playing from a different playbook?! I don't care who you are; you are not going to win as a third party candidate; you must win the primary; this competition still has rules and we must play by them or we are going to get beaten every time and I hate to lose. The more we win the closer we get back to the Constitution. You can be a purest if you like, but the reality is that your strategy of running a third party candidate is not going to work and in fact make it harder to win anything at all. Do you purest believe we have time for more distruction? I believe we should take what we can get right now and get the rest next time.
