Southwest MI Patriots

Liberty and Freedom

People, we are very close to looking foolish. We must either very, very quickly put together a credible 4th of July event at Bronson Park - or notify the city that we have changed out minds.

In that event we should arrange to have our members attend events that have been planned in other cities like Grand Rapids or Lansing to show support for our Mission. Greg and Cari, and Tony Dugal are the only ones who have volunteered to help put together anything for our event and I am afraid that we no longer are going to have enough time to arrange for posters and flyers, music, food vendors, interested speakers, invitations to other groups like NRA, Fair Tax, Right to Life, politicians.etc.

We need to be fair and give people some notice so they can make palns. So if we can't pull something together in about a week we really should just call it off or we risk looking pathetic.

I will lead the group but I need 3-4 more very serious people who can help with things like music, food vendors, posters and banners, distributing flyers, calling and arranging appropriate speakers, talking to media, etc., etc.

I think that we must start by this Saturday and have things really moving within a few days - or call everything off. Thanks. Doug.

Doug,

I agree we need to have a good program--if we're gonna have a program at all. Though I've been helping with planning for this event, I won't be able to attend (very regretfully, I must say, as a family reunion in Virginia beckons). I can still help with work prior to that weekend.

Our group did more work on this at last Saturday's meeting (which you missed)...and, hopefully, we can really firm things-up at this Sunday's meeting, in order to feel confident of our program.

Our program on the 4th does not need to be "fancy," (as it will be mostly an opportunity to sign-up new members, and rally everyone with a few speeches) but it needs to be well-planned and executed. Tony
Actually at the last meeting we decided that two hours was too short a period for music food and vendors. I think we are just going to do an event almost exactly like our April,15th with speakers, signs and such.
Thanks for letting me know. I wish I had been able to attend the last meeting ... but like everyone else I have a lot of other things going on in my life.

I am not whining but it would have been nice if those who made the decisions about the 4th of July event at the meeting last week had let the rest of us know what had been decided. I was still under the impression that we were proceeding with the "Cut the Pork" theme and we were going to serve some sort of pulled pork or have a pig roast and that we wer planning a larger event. We should keep minutes or at least try to summarize these things and post a report on line to keep everyone up to speed.

Who has been invited to speak? What kind of banners are we making? Have we arranged for media coverage? What other groups have been invited?

Please let me know how I can help, I am tired of the government trying to run our lives.

Don't be discouraged by the limited time frame, Paul. We only had a couple of weeks before April 15th to organize. We ended up with close to a thousand in attendance. Get the flyers out!
