Lottery Winner Uses Michigan Bridge Card--Without Guilt!

Another fine example of our "gimme" society, where parasites live-off the hard work of honest taxpayers. Michigan man who won $2 million in the lottery still uses his Bridge Card (food stamps). Apparently perfectly legal, as Michigan does not consider a "lump sum" payout as "income." Are you listening, Legislators? ... just browsing and I saw your post from back in May. 

 

This doesn't make sense to me (I mean that it's "legal").  I know for a fact--because I helped someone fill out the forms--that in the case of Michigan Medicaid they are required to report UNearned as well as earned income, insurance policy payments, bank accounts with balances, plus ownership of vehicles, etc. This is periodically requested by the state, and they are required to report changes to their status within ten days.  When the person I was helping got a job making $200 per week, their Medicaid deductible went from zero to $1200.

 

Seems like a Bridge card would have similar rules to a MiHealth card.

 

On the other hand, I don't doubt there are people who would not "feel guilty" about continuing to use it...
