Obama commencement at KCHS (not a place for protest?)

With the announcement that President Obama is giving the commencement at Kalamazoo Central, I found myself thinking that this would not be a place for the Tea Party to protest or picket.

 

What comes to mind are the many stories of "peace" protestors using the event of a veteran's funeral to get their views on the evening news.

 

I think we have many opportunities to protest the damaging policies of the administration, but I hope we would avoid this event.

 

Sure ... Obama will use the event to push his agenda.  Why give him one more "sound bite" during his commencement speach?

 

It is just my opinion, but I sincerely feel that there could be more of a negative impact than positive should SWMTPP use the event of the Obama visit to picket the event.

 

On the contrary, perhaps the Tea Party could issue a statement to the local media outlets to explain why we wouldn't picket this event.  I think that could have a very positive impact.

 

Just my opinion ... I'd look forward to hearing what others might think.

I couldn't agree more. Like him or not, its great for the kids who worked so hard to get him here, and good for Kalamazoo on a National scale. The last thing we need to do is alienate people in this area, and/or present a radical image nationally. For groups like this one, image is everything if you hope to get support for an agenda or platform. There will be many more opportunities to express our concerns in a professional and dignified manner.

I agree that we should stay away. This is a high school graduation and not a forum for political discourse. Hope Barry understands that and keeps his socialist crap out of his comments, but we know better. This entire charade was set up so he could help indoctrinate the youth. No President has EVER addressed a high school gradutaion ceremony!
Nonetheless we stay away and let it be celebration of education.
