Southwest MI Patriots

Liberty and Freedom

This is a draft of letter I am composing to send to Gazette. Should I send as Citizen Gene or as Tea Party Patriot? What say you?
********************************************************
It is unfortunate that the town hall meetings that Congressmen and Senators held lately have degenerated into shouting and some in violence. I can see no reason for violence, but I think I do see reason for anger on the part of some citizens.

We have all seen and read of meetings and statements made in the past few months by congressmen to constituents in which they stated that they wanted to end the use of private medical insurance. There are several examples of these statements made in public meetings on ‘YouTube’, an alternate news source. I have even seen and heard clips of President Obama (then Senator or candidate) when he stated that the goal of the Democrat Party was to have single payer, or government medical insurance only.

I have retrieved a copy of the current bill in the House of Representatives (HR3200) and have read it. It clearly sets up conditions that will eventually result in replacing all private health insurance with federal government insurance. This is very clearly set out starting on page 16 of the bill as it exists in the federal government web site www.thomas.gov. The bill states that if you drop your current, private health insurance, you cannot purchase another private policy, you must purchase a policy issued by the federal government. Thus, if you change jobs, or you loose your job, you cannot change to a new private policy, you must take a federal government policy. In following pages there are many other conditions placed upon private insurance policies that will result in those corporations dropping out of the market, which is right in line with what has been promised by Democrat Congressmen.

I have seen President Obama state that you can keep your insurance if you are happy with it. I have seen President Obama answer questions about the policy to the effect that he does not know all that is in it. I have heard Congressmen and Senators state that they don’t have time and do not understand what is in these 1,000 page bills (re: Rep. Waxman (D-CA)).

I personally know others who have read the whole HR3200 bill. I have seen people go into town hall meetings and ask if they can keep their current insurance. When told “yes” by a Senator, Congressman or member of the administration they get very angry because it seems to the citizen that either that person is completely incompetent and has no idea what is in a bill that he ‘supports’ or he does know, but thinks you are too stupid to find out. Either way, the citizens become enraged to be treated that way by people who are supposed to represent them and work for them.

Deep within us something is telling us that we have a group of people in our federal government who no longer feel any connection to us, but instead think that we are unruly and need to be controlled for our own good.

Next, when no one listens, the people start to feel powerless; some become enraged. This is a very dangerous point in the relations between the federal government and the citizens of the United States. I believe this is the point in our history that the State governments must step in and stop all of this, by enforcing the constitution upon the federal government, which was created by the States.

We, the people, need to replace everyone in the federal government. This is the only way to extinguish the current mind set in Washington DC. That mind set is that they are the rulers and they will care for us, whether we like it or not. We need to completely erase the combined memory of a federal government that thinks that benign tyranny has a place in the United States of America. We do this at the ballot box.

I feel this resonates to the core of who we are and what we believe as a group of concerned citizens. Therefore, I vote to add the "Patriots" signature.
Agreed, this is what the Tea Party Patriots are about. It should reflect the a Patriot signature.
Gene, I support you letter to the editor and would support sending it to the Heral Palladium as well. Maybe if the "Elite" start seeing the call for replacement in print it will begin to hit home.
I think you should state--in the 4th paragraph: "I've seen and heard President Obama...... instead of just seen..... Also: They don't have time to read the bill or they admit that they have read it and state they do not understand...... what is in these 1000+ pages of the bill.

Also from experience, this is too long to be submitted as a Letter to the Editor....it would have to be submitted as a Viewpoint and designated that way or it will be rejected. ALSO, TELL JOYCE PINES, EDITOR, THAT IF SHE MAKES ANY CHANGES TO THE PIECE, THAT YOU WANT TO SEE AND APPROVE THE CHANGES. From past experience, because it is a liberal newspaper, changes are made and the "punch" is removed. I do this and she does condescend to provide me with the "end result AFTER she makes the changes" and I either acquiesce to the changes or fight for original intent. I forgot to do this on my recent Viewpoint, and changes were made that lessened very much the impact of my article. And usualy she reconsiders. You may know this already, but just in case you don't......

Send as from the Tea Party.....people need to see this as a truthful explanation of their activities...they get fed so many lies about them.

Also, Gene, Obama is being groomed for a high position in the New World Order and the way he follows and produces his "Masters" wishes at this time......to move our country, with their plans--and he as their puppet--into the NWO....will determine his future standing in the NWO. My belief is that they are "using" him and will dump him after he has "performed" for them. . That is why they have no fear of demolishing or neglecting the laws/rules of our Constitution or Declaration of Independence--as if they do not even exist. They mean absolutely nothing to them and they laugh at us when we "take a stand" for them. But....nonetheless....we must keep forcing it back on them.

Good article..
Absolutely send it as a representative of the Tea Party. I encourage all Tea Party members to identify themselves in letters to the editor, unless they are disrespectful, advocate violence, or use profane language our message is pretty much the same - they all have got to go. Republican or Democrat, if you have been there long enough to think like one of "them" then you probably are "one of them" and you need to go.

When you say you understand peoples anger, and you know that there has been violence, just be sure to make it clear that our Tea Party group never advocates violence and has never been involved in any form of violent action. The only violence I personally have witnessed was on television when SEIU goons attacked an old man for selling Gadsen flag buttons.

Great ideas, keep 'em coming.

Yeah, it will have to be a Viewpoint submission. But I need to hone down for submission to other papers in the area.
Well said. Were I to have composed this, I'd send as an individual. You, however are the representative of a group of concerned citizens, and speak with many voices. Send it a s a Tea Party Patriot!

Good letter!

I am not able to offer a meaningful opinion about whether you send as individual vs as a rep of Tea Party.

The idea about submitting as Viewpoint seems worth pursuing.

Here are a couple of minor comments about spelling:
in third paragraph: loose your job: should be: or you lose your job
in next-to-last paragraph: mind set: should be: mindset, all one word. . . or mind-set, hyphenated

Again, it is a good letter!
My Honorable Mr. Clem

In reading your letter and as a citizen of Michigan I agree with your well chosen words.

Your question as to how to sent it I say we Lock Arms as the Patriots fo the past and let it again be said Give me Liberty or give me Death.

As said by other greats, Evil prevails when good men do nothing. And I believe that we out number them and the Vote will be our new chosen weapon.

I also believe that there are good men that are going to be the next great leaders of this country when the dust settles.

There will be a very small amount of the ones that are now there that will still be there because there are a few, and I mean a very few that make their decisions for the good of the whole people.

Let's go with the "Patriots" because it signifies our revolt against the Nany State. The colonists did not want babysitting services from Britain...and we refute elitist "care-giving".
Excellent, if but a little lengthy, letter. Send it to as many papers as we can. And why stop there? Let our Congress persons have their own personal copy. Signed by the Patriots!
Gene.
Your letter is well-written, and factual. As for the signature, there would be more impact if every person used some of your points and wrote their own letters. 1000 actual, individual letters have a greater impact than 1 letter representing 2000 people. Everyone must write letters in response the the inaccurate reporting by the media.
I was at the much reported Dingell meeting in Romulus. This is my message to Chuck Stokes, the Editorial Director of Channel 7 in Detroit.

I am appalled at the "news" coverage you gave to the Town Hall Meeting in Romulus. I was there. I saw the location and position of the cameras and microphones. I saw the paid supporters being brought in through the side door. I saw the supporters start the meeting by holding up their signs and shouting. (They set the tone for the meeting.) I saw the supporters stay behind as the back of the room was emptied for another group. You were there. You didn't report it. Didn't you see any of that?

Your coverage made it appear as if the division was an equal split. I would love to be paid for objecting to this hastily crafted Bill that no one has read, but everyone agrees to.

The President takes 6 months to chose which dog he wanted. But this Bill, that will affect us for the rest of our lives, must be passed before the end of the year?

Where is the objective reporting?

Signed,
