CC912TP Patriots,

As a chapter of Southwest Michigan Tea Party Patriots, we operate under their rules and guidelines and have done so since our founding these past 2.5 years. Those rules, the 9 principles and 12 values of the 912 Project, the mission and vision statements found on www.swmipats.org and www.teapartypatriots.org, and our own statements agreed upon at conventions have guided us at this point.

Together, we brought 5 US Senate Candidates, 2 State Senate Candidates, State Senator Proos, all area State House Representative Candidates, State Reps Tyler and Lori, Democrat Chair Taylor, Fair Tax President, County Commissioners, Township Leaders, Republican Grassroots Leaders, Secretary of State Reps, and various guest speakers on several key educational topics like Islam, survival, HHS, and Tea Party ideals. The journey thus far in retrospect reminds me of the standard sales manager’s comment “what have you done for me lately?” for many now seeking further fundamental transformation of the Tea Party movement. In my opinion, that is great news!

I filled the shoes to help found our local movement from the beginning with Susan Flowers. We first met to kick off our group at Lunkers. The next meeting I was in Texas helping my dad go through chemotherapy, but came to help lead the meetings at the American Legion in Edwardsburg. With Susan, Mary Martin, Marty Mullinax, Shirley Duis, and me as board, and other like-minded Patriots, we began to form a Tea Party group. The history has seen many changes since and met in many locations as we tried to find some central base and a core for what we are all about. We took 4 trips to DC in protest. We instituted the April 15 Tax Day Rally in 2010. We started a booth at the County Fair. Most important, we participated in the national discussions, elections, and the movement. In all of these things, we can hold our heads up and proudly call ourselves Tea Party Patriots!

It is now time for others to take the leadership reigns, future directions, and workload. With that and hopes for a restoration of our Constitutional Republic with constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and personal property rights as our basis, I hereby step down from all leadership position within Cass County 912 Tea Party effective April 18, 2012. I will remain available for discussion with the new leaders for transition, discussion, or reference.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve this movement as Chair, Board Member, and Leader since inception. It has been a sincere honor and memorable experience. May God bless your efforts as you seek His guidance in all future directions. To Him be the glory!
