"LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder urged the U.S. Senate to pass legislation allowing states to collect sales tax from online and catalog retailers.
"Snyder, in a letter to Senate leadership this week, said he supports the Marketplace Fairness Act as a way to level the playing field between brick-and-mortar shops and online retailers like Amazon.com and Overstock.com.
"He also wants the estimated $872 million in sales tax revenue that the Michigan Department of Treasury says the state is missing out on from online and mail order purchases for fiscal years 2012 and 2013."

"missing out on"??? "missing out on???" Well, I suppose the state is owed taxes on water and air, too. They must be "missing out on" a lot.
The state has quite the sense of entitlement. As if we weren't paying too much already.
