Southwest MI Patriots

Liberty and Freedom

Just so you remember, Fred Upton signed the "In or Out 2010" Pledge. I am attaching it below. Let's hold him to that pledge.

He also signed on to the  "Pledge to America" put out by the Rep. Party. Let's hold him to that pledge. I gave my signed booklet to Diane Konneck as she is working on the Issues Committee. Many things promised are issues we as a movement want changed. Several of them skirt the problems because without Senate and a decent President, the House cannot get them through. Still, we must hold their feet to fire!

How many promises broken does it take to be considered untrustworthy?
Scott,
I know how disenfranchised you feel with him. You made that clear to me early on. I feel the same in many respects as you do.

The only way to go forward is to remember the past, but move on. Should he break any of the promises, pledges, and committments he has made this election cycle, I'd be inclined to get his butt impeached. Let's hold him to these and see where it goes. There's two important things we need to fight to get on 2012 ballot nationwide: balanced budget amendment and term limit amendment. We can talk about the 16 & 17 repeal, but do you think it will gain any traction?

Again, let's hold his butt to the fire for the promises he has now made. At any time he breaks them, let's do our job and tell the world. Also, let's work hard to get his replacement funded, prepared to run, and better known this year and next! Fred can then help us by endorsing him or her ahead of time. My hope is that Jack H. will run again. Fred can run against StabMeNow.
Here is a good synopsis by Connie Hair of Human Events of Fred's past voting record on energy-related legislation.

She identifies him as Fred Upton (RINO-Mich). I find it interesting that the infamous "light-bulb banning" bill also included new energy standards for household appliances -- isn't his family still involved in Maytag/Whirlpool (and didn't they send their manufacturing overseas)??
I say again, for the next two years he's our congressman. We can either hold him to the promises and pledges he made during the recent election cycle or we can continue to bash him over his record. Which do you prefer to do?

I agree that the best (and only) thing that can be done is hold him accountable going forward. I just believe that someone's actions in the past are good indicators of how they will act in the future, and it is always good to know who you are dealing with. It appears that he has been scared back to the right by what he sees going on in Washington D.C. I have volunteered to be on the Citizen Liaison with State of Michigan Officials committee, so I look forward to helping the Tea Party with holding him accountable.
A more detailed voting record.

Scott, I agree with everything you show me here. I don't disagree with what the need to get him replaced in 2012. The one thing I really hope and pray for during the next two years: let's get him to do what We The People want him to do.
After talking with Gene about this before and after the election, the first promise we need to make happen is the liaison with Upton's DC office and us. We want to know ahead of time about all legislative matters - NOT after the fact. So, here's the first test for our Congressman: is he keeping us informed as promised?

Finally, Fred Upton gets it on the absolute necessity for us to become energy independent by 2020. Here's a recent email exchange:

I am so excited to work on the many challenges before us and for the GOP team that we have assembled on the Energy and Commerce cmte--Whether it be health, energy, communications or fraud and abuse, we will be on it like a dog to a frisbee--have a great Christmas--

Fred Upton
