Your opinion counts.

To address the issue of  extending unemployment benefits again,  the Rattle With Us Tea Party has come up with four suggestions. (or possibilities or choices) for you to consider.

We would like as many respondents as possible so we can send our message/thoughts/opinions to Senator Colbeck.

We would like to be able to gather this information by tonight to take to his office by tomorrow morning.

Your participation is greatly appreciated.

1.       I support no extension of federal unemployment benefits and support maintaining 26 weeks in state unemployment benefits.

2.       I support extending federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support maintaining 26 weeks in state unemployment benefits .

3.       I support extending the federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support dropping state unemployment benefits to 20 weeks in one year.

4.       I support extending the federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support dropping state unemployment after one year on a sliding scale starting at 20 weeks if the state unemployment rate is over 10% and moving down to 6 weeks if the unemployment rate drops to <5%.

Options 1 and 2 only

Maybe too late to reply to this, but having been in this situation three times, it's difficult not wanting to give people money, but in the first two of those cases, I did become somewhat complacent when I didn't quickly find a job. So now I'd have to say that my first choice is #1. If I have to pick a second choice, it'd be #3.
Option # 1
I think  # 4 has a lot of merit, but would be way too complicated for a governmantal bureacracy to enforce, therefore # 1.
#1. Extending unemployment perpetuates the lie that the government is the solution---instead of the problem:  http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/why-its-bad-business-to-hire-the-long-...
#1
#1 is the only reasonable choice. where will the handouts stop? our country is being drained with entitlement programs. there are jobs to be had,but most find it easier to be on the dole. then we have many cases where they are hired, but to lazy to show up on time, or how dare you ask me to do something. we are in trouble here, watch out for change, dont get me started. thanks, john

Until we can turn the economic problems the idiots have put us in: I support #4 and #2 in that order.

Dr. Scott

Option #1
We need to push for #1 as our answer. This is just another way to get people on public assistance and then keep them there. If people have no unemployement they are more movtivated to find employment. By giving people years of unemployment we have made this recession far worse then it needed to be.

As a business owner, who never laid anyone off and work overtime because of all the extentions most people don't want to work or ask for a job after there benifits run out, or better yet say they can work in about 3 or 4 month after there benifits run out. Even had employees lie on there paper work saying they got laid off after they quit and we protest it but they still get there unemployment. I always thought if you lied on paper work it was against the law, if that was me that did that I would probably be prosecuted. Even have people stop here and only want a bussiness card to show they were here and when asked if they want an appliction since I am hiring and they say NO they just want a bussiness card.

America has become a lazy country and want something for nothing and I think our Government has us for sell so might have to learn Chinese if something doesn't happen soon.

SO THEN EXTENSIONS NEED TO STOP.

Option #1.

Encourage employees to invest in private unemployment insurance, just like disability or life.  Additionally, demand that Michigan clearly budget for unemployment; as it stands now, the total amount paid out is unlimited.  By putting a dollar figure on this type of charity, a balanced budget can be achieved.  Set a maximum amount to be paid out per recipient, then if the number of people on the dole times the max amount exceeds the pre-budgeted amount, then the amount paid per recipient is reduced.
