Your opinion counts.

To address the issue of  extending unemployment benefits again,  the Rattle With Us Tea Party has come up with four suggestions. (or possibilities or choices) for you to consider.

We would like as many respondents as possible so we can send our message/thoughts/opinions to Senator Colbeck.

We would like to be able to gather this information by tonight to take to his office by tomorrow morning.

Your participation is greatly appreciated.

1.       I support no extension of federal unemployment benefits and support maintaining 26 weeks in state unemployment benefits.

2.       I support extending federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support maintaining 26 weeks in state unemployment benefits .

3.       I support extending the federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support dropping state unemployment benefits to 20 weeks in one year.

4.       I support extending the federal unemployment benefits by 20 weeks and support dropping state unemployment after one year on a sliding scale starting at 20 weeks if the state unemployment rate is over 10% and moving down to 6 weeks if the unemployment rate drops to <5%.

#1- Michigan is broke and is the only state that will be losing a State Representative becasue of a decline in popultation.

The era of entitlements need to stop!

I vote for #2 and #1 in that order .. Michigan is broke and extending the unemployment checks only perpetuates not looking for a job ....
Option 1, studies have shown the longer the benefits, the longer those receiving wait to look for a job.  Lengthening the benefits actually increases unemployment.
I support proposal #1, we are broke!
Number one
I would support number 4, but for any of the options above, I would add that anyone receiving unemployment would be required to perform at least 10 hrs of community service a week to remain eligible. Think of how much that needs to be done in a community could be accomplished.

I support 1.)

2nd choice, 3.)

I support option, however, one should consider the amount paid into the unemployment fund by individuals prior to law change with the about state and school employees have paid into theirs. They are both government entitlement programs and should be viewed in the same light. What is good for one is good for the other.
#1  Whatever happened to " We can't afford it!"

What are the current time periods that we are commenting on?  What is the current Federal coverage?  That way we can decide if a 20 week extension is the best way to go.  I like the sliding scale of #4 but the comment of "after one year" is a little unsettling.

We don't have much money to spend so we should be frugeal but have some flexibility when the entire economy, expecially of this state, goes to hell.

I support extensions but only if the receipients are willing to work for their benifits.  There are plenty of jobs that the benefactors could perform to keep America beautiful.

I support #1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  THERE IS NO MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How long has the current period of "unemployment" been extended???  Just STOP!  No more extensions!

Thanks,

Debbie Coning
