Ingham County Background

Ingham County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 2010 census recorded its population at 280,895. The county seat is Mason[1]. Lansing, the state capital of Michigan, is located within the county, and is the only state capital in the nation that is not also a county seat. The county is home to Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and the Class A minor league baseball team, the Lansing Lugnuts.

Ingham County was established by an act of the Michigan Territorial Legislature on October 29, 1829, from portions of Shiawassee County, Washtenaw County and unorganized territory. It was attached for administrative purposes to Washtenaw County until 1838 when county government was established for Ingham.

The county is named for Samuel D. Ingham, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President Andrew Jackson, making Ingham one of the so-called Cabinet counties.

Last night's US Senate Town Hall forum in Dewitt was amazing.  THANK YOU  ESPECIALLY TO Paul Winter and to all others who arranged for this invent.  I visited with many attendees from other areas in the state who were equally grateful for the opportunity to listen to the candidates.  While the local Lansing paper indicated 200 in attendance, the Detroit News more acccurately reported over 500 in attendance.

Many House and Senate members are being recalled because they voted to have teachers and gov't pay a small part of their bennies, just like I have had to pay for a large part of my bennies. The 2 mentioned House members voted for any spending program that Grandholm wanted.

To Rick and Anne Hector,

First of all, the last name is Walter, not mad about the mistake, it happens all the time, just letting you know. As for your question, I am putting forth this effort because I think that they are not representing the best interests of their constituents... or in really plain English, because they aren't doing the job well. The fact that both are term limited doesn't mean they go away and never influence policy again. Barb Byrum plans to run for county clerk, and it is easy to see Whitmer take a stab at a congressional seat or something similar. Having a recall effort against them raises awareness of what they are doing and makes them have to try to justify their behavior.

Just think of it, with the Chairman and Czars ending the US Space Program we must ride in the BACK of the Russian bus to get to our space investment. WHAT A COUNTRY!

Paul,

It was good to see you at the SWMIPATS Board Meeting last night.  I wish you the best of luck running for City Council.

I love the quote from Obama about lack of leadership, that about sums it up!!

Okay, for anyone who is interested, or knows someone who is interested, I have filed a petition to recall state rep barb byrum, and state senator Gretchen Whitmer, there will be a hearing on august 1st to determine if the the language on the petitions will be approved. Once that has happened I will need all the help I can get in collecting signatures. If anyone is interested in helping me send me a message and I will get you my contact info.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.” ……..
Senator Barack Obama 2006 (interesting huh?)
