oh I just showed up.....many people put lots of hard work into studying the rules, making a slate, having some action plans in place, making lists, and of course God guiding us through it all. It was an interesting evening. I agree with Beth that preparation is key for the state convention.

Beth, mega-congrats! I too will be going to the convention, but as an alternate.

It seems that my past activities as a GOP 'volunteer' who opened the Cass Co. GOP HQ on more than one occasion, working as a poll watcher, and assisting across the board through the past 3 election cycles didn't carry much weight last night. ;o)

Gene, speakin for myself and others.... we need to really meet/discuss stuff. I read the state packet of rules/etc... and there are things we need to know, like how to sign up to "speak" to a candidate as nominations go. I think we should definitely speak for every candidate that we support at least.... it's a great way for us to have a forum in front of a captive audience...;-) Also, there was talk about not having a VB caucus at 8AM prior to the convention starting, but there are so many newbies, I will push for one so we can learn stuff.... the RP must actually teach new people stuff of their efforts to remain healthy/vigorous will not be realized... rambling.

Kalamazoo had 6 caucus set up each with 6 to 11 slots for state. Overall we pulled about 30 of the 51 slots. One caucus tried to pull a set up slate; caused a controversy, which was not solved and was quashed via a voice vote to adjourn the convention (which passed by 3 votes, all the TP delegates voting against adjournment.) Overall there was no overt effort to quash the TP, just some folks who had served the Kzoo GOP for many years protecting turf. We're happy in Kzoo!

Danno- things went well in Van Buren last night. They had preselected a slate, but suspended the rules and let everyone discuss some.... and it felt informal. Luckily, not many people piped up with "I want to go!!!" and so Tim Banks, Lori his friend, and myself got on the list for voting members to the state convention with little difficulty. However I do owe Tim B a note of thanks, as he put in a good word for me so I could be one of the 14. Awesome.

Beth and David, IF you find that they are ready to rubberstamp through their slate of delegates then politely suggest to them that if the Tea Party Patriots don't get at least 1 delegate [more?] selected it 'could' go badly for them in the upcoming elections, especially when considering that more protests will soon be happening in an area close to them. IMHO, they will capitulate if it is done correctly.

In other words, let them know to throw this dog a bone or he could bite ya. ;o)

David and Sheryl, if you are Van Buren, then I just found out that the Van Buren Exec committee has preselected a slate of delegates going to the state convention. If they are not all there tonight, we may have a chance to get on the slate... I hope. Learning as I go,...
