ISLAM: OBLIGATED TO LIE
In the last few years, many Americans have learned the term taqiyya, an Arabic word that describes lying for the sake of furthering the cause of Islam or protecting oneself from kuffar.
This concept originates in the Qur’an:
“Anyone who, after accepting Faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,--except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith-- . . . theirs will be a dreadful Penalty.” (16.106, Late Mecca)
“Let not the Believers take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than Believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution that you may guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (to remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah. Say: “Whether you hide what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it all . . .” (3.28-29, Medina)
The first passage describes Muslims who believe they are being persecuted. In this scenario, Allah gives them license to lie and say they are not Muslim, so long as in their heart, they really are. And since Allah can read the heart, he will always know the truth.
Sura 3 reinforces the command that Muslims are not to befriend non-Muslims. However, it does allow them to pretend to befriend non-Muslims in order to investigate the intent and plans of kuffar, particularly during times of war. Again, Allah reads the true state of the heart.
Since the Qur’an labels kuffar as “friends of Satan” (4.76, Medina) and “open enemies” (4.101), it is hardly surprising that Muslims would also be discouraged from befriending us. Sura 58.22 (Medina) reminds Muslims that they must not even keep any attachment to family members if those individuals do not accept Islam.
In the 14th century, Ahmad ibn Naqib al-Misri, a Muslim scholar, compiled a manual of shari’a law that still serves as a basic legal reference for Muslims today. Al-Misri combined passages from the Qur’an with hadith and arranged the teachings by topic in Reliance of the Traveller. The book was translated into English in 1991 and the translation endorsed by the imam of the mosque of Darwish Pasha in Damascus, the mufti of the Jordanian Armed Forces, The President of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (aka Muslim Brotherhood), and by the flagship university of shari’a law: al-Azhar University in Cairo.
Al-Misri quotes two of the most trusted sources of hadith, close followers of Muhammad: Bukhari and Muslim: “’I did not hear him [Muhammad] permit untruth in anything people say, except for three things: war, settling disagreements, and a man talking with his wife or she with him . . .’”
al-Misri r8.2
According to this hadith which summarizes Muhammad’s teachings on lying, Muslims may lie not only to kuffar but also to each other. The Qur’an is clear that Muslims are always at war with unbelievers until all kuffar have converted to Islam or been killed. Thus, according to the Qur’an, hadith, and shari’a law, it is always permissible to lie to unbelievers.
“Lying is sometimes permissible for a given interest . . . . It is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory.”
al-Misri r8.2
Sometimes, lying is not only permissible, but obligatory. Al-Misri gives an example of a situation where lying is an obligation. If a Muslim hides from kuffar in the home of another Muslim, the homeowner is obligated to lie to unbelievers if they question him.
The legal entitlement to lie is further defined:
“ . . . employ words that give a misleading impression . . . even if one . . . merely lies without intending anything else, it is not unlawful . . . . if the consequences of telling the truth are more damaging, one is entitled to lie.”
al-Misri r8.2
Sometimes an obligation, sometimes an entitlement, but never unlawful when it comes to kuffar.

What is the point of this? I don't get it unless I'm seeing it out of context because it is part of a discussion I have not seen. Even if it is true I don't know why it is here in the SW Michigan Patriots page. I fear that this kind of stuff feeds our detractors to say what bigots we are. I'm not saying that you are a bigot!!! I'm only saying that in my opinion this is not the forum.
Permalink Reply by Jennifer Groves on January 31, 2012 at 2:09am The point is to educate regarding Islam, by sharing what the Qur'an and hadith teach. If this is bigotry, then the Qur'an and hadith teach bigotry.
What most Americans don't understand is that imams who claim that Islam is peaceful are lying--and that they are mandated to lie by both the Qur'an and hadith. Westerners have a hard time digesting that, and because of that, tend to believe whatever imams tell them.
Islam poses a serious threat to the Constitution. Consequently, Islam--and its intent to establish a global caliphate under the rule of shari'a law--should be of concern to the Tea Party.

However there is the relevance of sharia to the Constitution.
In Islam there is no separation of church and state. An Islamic Republic is a theocratic government. Our Founders built that separation into the US Constitution.
The US Constitution is based on English Common law. An Islamic state, by definition, would be based on Islamic law (sharia). I believe we are not obliged to recognize any legal system other than that on which the Constitution is based.
The farther we deviate from the Constitution, the more we devolve the American Republic into what could be called Amerikan Fascism.
A global caliphate seems no different than, as Murray Rothbard says, “a postmillennial pietist Protestantism….to use local, state, and finally federal governments to stamp out sin, to make America and eventually the whole world holy, and thereby to bring about the Kingdom of God on Earth.” Either of these ideologies can be used as a basis for an imperialist foreign policy.

Permalink Reply by Jennifer Groves on January 31, 2012 at 5:59pm Shari'a is derived directly from the Qur'an and the hadith. They are the foundation of Islam. Hence the relevance.
Thanks Jennifer and Gordie for your patience and willingness to teach.
I have to laugh just a bit because I radically edited my comment from what appears above to say that I had reacted to the the original ISLAM... post out of context and ended that we/I need to be careful how it may read in a public forum. And here, my unedited quote ends up being posted!!!
I certainly have no disagreement that sharia law must have no legal standing in our country on the foundation of the 1st Amendment!
Permalink Reply by Gordie WH on February 12, 2012 at 7:43am While I still agree with Christopher, I find it instructive to be aware of the religious basis for the positions of political candidates. In Ron Paul's case, being an MD as well as an elected politician, he is committed to the Hippocratic oath as well as loyalty to the US Constitution.
Marion: I would agree that there is every octane of belief within any given religion. Christianity has some 9000 sects for example. My concern is the extent to which a political candidate's religious beliefs may influence their philosophy of governance. What they actually do once elected to office may not coincide with the platform on which they ran as candidates. FDR and the 1932 Democratic platform are an example.
Regarding the Rothbard quote, it may be useful to note Rothbard's footnotes on page 206 of The Costs of War.

I recommend taking a look at the website Strategic Engagement Group (http://strategicengagement.org/) and also Steve Emerson's The Investigative Project.
Both sites have posted for download many MB documents (and summaries regarding the MB). What most Americans still don't understand is that lying is the basis for the cultural infiltration for shari'a. And nearly all the Islamic organizations in this country are MB. Their own documents have proven that.
The MB has written 1 yr, 5 yr, and 10 yr plans on how to convert America and the West to an Islamic State. And we are seeing those plans unfold on a daily basis. Throw taqiyya in the mix and we see why all of the statements from CAIR and other MB organizations and imams cannot be trusted: they are obligated to lie to non-Muslims.
Lies can be very powerful tools. Esp if ppl are uninformed enough to believe them.
