Lincoln Twp is imposing a "special assessment" tax increase on property owners to raise $540,000 in 2013. There is no vote on this tax increase UNLESS " . . . the owners of ten percent (10%) of the land to be assessed petition the Township Board of Trustees."
In addition, the millage can be renewed and increased yearly WITHOUT VOTE and "without further notice if the annual increase is less than ten percent (10%)."
The public hearing for objecting to this taxation without representation is this Tuesday, 25 Sept, at 7 pm at the twp bldg.
Property owners may object to the creation of a "Special Assessment District". Objections must be in writing and filed with the twp office, "at or prior to the time of the hearing".
A second public hearing will occur on Tues, 9 Oct at 7 pm at the twp bldg.

Permalink Reply by Jennifer Groves on September 30, 2012 at 5:01pm Thanks to a great response from conservatives, the twp has dropped the millage--for now. About 80 ppl showed up to protest the tax increase. The second hearing is cancelled.
