Liberty and Freedom

The attached file is a call on a radio talk show from a brain surgeon, who just received more details about how Obamacare will affect his ability to care for his patients. He has to get permission from “ethics panels” in order to treat patients.

Need emergency surgery? That will have to wait til the death panel meets again—and yes, it is a death panel.

You don’t have to read the 2000+ pg healthcare bill to understand the reasoning behind it. Get a copy of Ezekiel Emanuel’s The Ends of Human Life. A much faster read.

EE was the chief architect of Obamacare and “Special Health Policy Advisor” to the White House. His entire career (and the book) are dedicated to determining who “deserves” care and who does not. He calls it “biomedical ethics”. Your chance of receiving health care is determined by whether or not you are a “contributing member” to socialist society.

His entire lifework is based on the false premise that healthcare, like wealth, cannot be created. He constantly refers to healthcare as a “scarce resource” that must be “rationed”. All supplies connected with health care are also “scarce” (you know, we can’t manufacture more needles, cotton swabs, etc).

For a shorter read, check out Emanuel’s online article below –it examines 5 different mathematical equations for determining who does--and who does not--receive care:

“Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions.” www.thelancet.com Vol 73, p. 423-431  31 Jan 2009   http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(09)6... (The Lancet has changed their website and you now have to register to read full articles online; it’s free, but you can read a summary of the article w/o registering.)

In it, E. Emanuel and his co-authors make it clear that medicine must always be “rationed”—as if it is some sort of non-renewable resource.

Emanuel also discusses the core concept of “promoting and rewarding social usefulness” of human beings—a concept familiar to communist regimes. Ergo, any human who is not “socially useful” to the state will not receive health care.

Mentally ill people may not be “useful” to society. Hitler certainly didn’t think they were. Physically handicapped not so “useful” either. Forget infants that require special care, or anyone over 65. Not “useful” enough to warrant spending “government” resources on your treatment.

He also discusses “morally relevant values”—because most values he does not consider relevant.

Remember, Emanuel is the one who said:

"Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others."

I can' t imagine anyone that could read this bill and think that President Obama deserves another term.  The health care is just the first of many bills  that will take away our rights and freedoms.
