We should start a library of all this great stuff for history sake.

Paul, Julia, and Tom--kudos to your kids for sitting out! And kudos to you for not believing the moral relativity crud that is constantly being spewed from educational institutions at every level.

Elizabeth--hope they print it! It is the liberals who do not know history--or they've accepted some emotionally-charged revisionist version of it not concerned with facts. If they did know history, they would know that communism, socialism, Marxism, fascism--they've all been tried and failed. Obama's "experiment" is nothing new and it, too, will ultimately fail. I resent O using us as his lab rats! Really, if Mr Fransden was such a historian, you do think he would have spent 10 seconds googling "Tea Party Patriots" and at least read the mission statement.

Candy/Elizabeth, I hope you cut out that editorial, I'd like to read it since I don't get the paper. Way to set em straight!! Hope they print your response.

Awww, Julia that is one brave young lady. I am proud that she found the courage to stand her ground and do what she believes is right. Tell Katie she is a hero in my eyes!! Hope to see you at the meeting tonight. On the 12th we will be having a "soap box" time for folks to share.....45 sec. Just a heads up if your brave one would like to share! Or you too of course.

There was a letter to the editor this morning saying we (TEA party people) didn't know our history. I got a little ticked. This is what I submitted to the Herald Palladim. Don't know if they will print it or not but if they do it is at least another plug for the rally in addition to Cindy's great contributons.

Response to “Protestors are confused on historical record”

I am a member of the TEA party group and take exception to Mr. Fransden’s misinterpretation of our goals and purpose. He should have investigated us a little first.

Many people in our group are very knowledgeable about our history. We use the references to the TEA party in Boston and the forefather as representative of our views. We know we have representation. Our representatives have, unfortunately, lost site of what the people elected them to do. Our current goal is to let them know this in no uncertain terms through rally’s, contacting them directly and enlightening the general public of many grievous errors and problems. It is what we can do NOW! I ask Mr. Fransden, what are you doing now?

He is absolutely correct regarding the officials losing their jobs in the next election cycle.
That is our next goal. In or Out - 2010. And, yes, we do watch Beck.

And don’t tell us it is not a legitimate protest! At least we are doing something! I ask all people that do not like what they see in government TODAY to do something! What have you done lately?

Attend our Rally at the Berrien County Courthouse on Sept 12, 2009, from 1-3 P.M. You might be surprised at who we are, your neighbors, your friends, your families.

Paul,
My daughter (Katie) was one of those kids that had a note to opt out on Pres Obama's speech. She came home to say that she was extremely uncomfortable as she was the only one in her class to leave the room. However, she said once she got to the "meeting" location she found one of her very good friends there. She said they both sighed in relief. She told me that she felt the way they were treated made her feel as if she had done something wrong and they were being punished. Then when she returned to class this girl (who touts her parents liberal views upon every opportunity in the classroom) who said very loudly, "Katie, I don't know why you had to leave the room....you realllllly missed it. President Obama's speech was reallllly inspirational!" My daughter said she didn't reply, she simply found her seat and sat down.

She said it was the hardest thing she's ever done and it was really hard having everyone stare at you. I simply got Glenn Beck's book out and read her a passage where he speaks about how hard it is to take a stand and do what is right.

That being said, my husband and I had read the speech on Monday night. Although he did keep his comments pretty general (study hard, don't give up and drop out/don't do drugs like me...of course without saying it that way). We just felt it was more appropriate for larger or inner citiy schools where there is a higher drop out rate, rampant drug problems and no strong family values. We still felt that it wasn't necessary for her to listen to someone who continues to surround himself with "advisors" that are either known terrorists or supporters of a socialistic society.

It was ultimately our decision as a family. We discussed it and she didn't want to listen to it. So, we wrote the note. And although she found it difficult at the time, last night as she got ready to go to bed, she stopped to tell us that she was still glad she opted out. She said it was about more than just a speech.

And she was right. Being strong enough to stand up for what you believe in, especially when it goes against what everyone else is doing, is the hardest thing an individual can do. We're proud our daughter has experienced this first and most difficult lesson in such a setting. Did she and those few other kids really stand out? Of course they did....but they should be proud....and it should make them more confident for it as well.

The last thing I told her before she went to bed, was that maybe not now...but on down the road, she'll look back on this and know in her heart that she did the right thing. That as Obama leads this country closer and closer to a socialistic form of government, that those kids in school will remember she was the only one to leave her classroom. You lead by example...sometimes it's the hardest thing, to be the only one...or one of the very few...but that's what it means to be resolute.

Everyone, if you read this...please say a prayer for our kids....they too need God's Blessings....because I think that it must be a very difficult time for our children in the school's today.

Thanks....and Blessings to all of you today.

Was anyone at the TEA Party rally in Niles last Sunday? Evidently the Tea PArty Express was supposed to stop there and didn't have time--just went on the Mishawaka Rally. I heard that Dr. Grannell, a doctor from Niles spoke at that event. Does anyone know how to contact him? The number in the phone book is not a working number. I was thinking we could ask him to speack our rally on Saturday.
