Does the MIGOP beleive that bombarding Wisconsinites with pre-recorded phone calls will get them to vote? It would do more to P--s me off! Two other things, It's lose, not loose, and Wisconsin, not Wisconson

Michigan Removes 30,000 College Students From Food Stamp Program

Human Services Director Maura Corrigan has removed an estimated 30,000 college students from the state’s food stamp program.  “Maybe (students) could go get a part-time job — that’s what I did,”

Maybe, maybe there's hope ...

For every baby, there is a father somewhere. It's time they be held responsible for its support. Some of them can try using their line of BS to support their kids. If we have to build jails to house them jail them for non-support, at least they won't be making more babies.

I agree the fathers need to take responsibility. It would also help a lot if people were more careful with birth control (hey, it's free and easy) and quit sleeping around so much. But some single moms WANT a lot of kids (that they don't take care of) bec of the payoff.

Learned last night at the TPP mtg that apparently the actual law on welfare payments in MI has always been that welfare lasts no more than 4 yrs (cumulative). Would be interesting to read it if someone has the time to look into it. Clearly, never been enforced.

Maybe we should blame our elected and appointed officials for not enforcing child support payments as part of the problem. I know of one single mom whose is owed $18,000 in support payments. Every time the father is summoned to court, he ignores the summons, claims he didn't get it, forgot to bring some papers etc and the sympathetic (or pathetic) Friend of the Court generously reschedules the hearing another 6 months or so down the road.

Gold = $1656/oz, Silver = $39.04, Dow = down 358 pts.... yeah, they really fixed things. When are people going to stop believing these "Chicken Little" scare mongers???

How the House and Senate Voted

"The 269-161 roll call Monday by which the House passed the compromise bill to raise the debt ceiling and prevent a government default."

Note that ALL of MI’s GOP reps voted to raise the debt ceiling, except for Amash.

The 26 senators who voted NO:

Levin and Stabenow didn’t make the list . . . surprise, surprise.
