This wanting to sink a lot of others resources into them is what you mean, isn't it Candace? There has to be a time to let emotion take a rest and face reality when faced with a life-death situation. The experience I talked about was a man under 50, had been declared brain dead by 3 doctors including a brain specialist, but yet the lady would not face the fact that only the respirator, blood pump, stomach tube were keeping him alive. Even if he would have been able to sustain life without the support equipment, he would  have been a vegetable.

Last time I checked this was a tea party web site....it is a fact that there is wat too much government control/involvement in peoples' lives. The government does not have the constitutional basis for their intrusiveness. Splitting hairs and debating tedious details only muddys the water of what personal liberties are Bering threatened. And ....by the way there is nothing wrong with Sara palin or Jesse Ventura.

THe ACD's only take effect if the person is judged unable to make their own health care decision.  An ACD is also not set in stone and the patient can revoke it at any time.

Making people aware of what the real situation will be is never a waste of time in my opinion. "End of life counciling" sounds warm & fuzzy, but as Charles Krauthammer said today as a doctor, he knows how much influence a doctor has in a situation where an elderly or recently diagnosed person has- they have the split second ability to say "Well, if it were me...." and the person can be forever changed. Wanting to "sink into them" alot of resources is what sets us who value life aside from people who view life at certain stages as a condition, an inconvienience or a problem. Where there is life there is hope -

I'm still waiting for the death panel link. I thought we were discussing the ACD and "Death Squad" but now we are gone to everything Obama does is to control people. I Think Obama has done enough for us to find fault with and to bring his defeat in 2012, but we should be focusing on specifics and not just hatred of the individual and running with and accepting as fact unfounded rumors or some unverifiable email someone sent us. That just makes us look foolish. I also question statements made by politicians, Democrat,Republican, Independents Tea Party approved. Don't forget-Medicare was not an Obama invention and I seriously doubt any substantial changes will be made to Medicare on SS even if all TP approved candidates are elected in 2012. and Obamacare gets defeated on the technicality.

As far as people near EOL, just how much of our resources should they be allotted? How much do we want to sink into a person that will be dead a few years from now?  Death is inevitable and is nature in action. We're not getting out of this world alive. Delaying it for our own selfish reasons at the expense of young children and young adults seems wrong. To suggest that a person does not believe in TP principles because they don't believe in spreading lies or distorting facts etc is a strange statement-to say the least. I don't trust Democrats OR Republicans on their word. I would rather judge them on their actions and in my experience, their main interest lies in getting elected and re-elected. Once they have left or have been run out office, they will go to work for the very industries they regulated

It's necessary to understand the agendas of those who write a particular bill (esp when the bill itself is 6 volumes of writing). Again, E. Emanuel's book makes the intent of "health care reform" very clear. limited, "non-renewable" resources--a total lie. And yes, the whole goal is to determine who gets care and who doesn't--based on age as a primary factor. They have made it quite clear that those on the "ends of human life" don't get resources--regardless of any advance directives.

I can't imagine why a TPP person would ever support the health care bill or anything that involves more gov't ctrl--as Sherry pointed out, EVERYTHING the BO admin does is designed to ctrl people.

If you really have that much blind faith and trust in a government that is intent on destroying the country, I can't help you.

And, can anyone show me where the "Death Panel" information is located other than Sarah Palin used the term?  Don't give an extremist or conspiracy website like Jesse Ventura etc.

Sherry, what on earth does your response have to do with Advance Care Directives?  The ACD is optional. You don't have to do it. Your doctor doesn't have to draw it up. The government is not controlling what is in your ACD or forcing you to have one! You can get an attorney or do it yourself. Here is a link to an ACD that is accepted in Michigan. MIne is more complex because I had an attorney draw it up. If you will notice, all the attending physician does is help determine whether you are capable of making your own EOL decisions. He does not make the decision to "pull the plug". That is the responsibility of the Patient Advocate you name.

Actually, My wife and I had our ACDs drawn up at the same time as our wills.

The big picture is Government Control. Whether we are talking about light bulbs or death panels!  The Constitution is about limiting the powers of government. Our Founders studied why other great nations have collapsed. Historically it is always because the people got lazy, complacent and let the government take control of their lives. The Tea Party is a result of far too many, being far too complacent for far too long and are fighting to preserve the principles upon which our great nation was founded.
