Janet:

Now you're issuing me assignments? Where did you get the idea you could do that?

No, I wasn't at the Tea Party meeting last week. I was told it would be held on the 12th., which is the second Thursday. When you read a condensed version of anything, you're getting what someone else thought was important. As you appear to be unable to state your concerns with the NDAA, I have to assume you are getting your information from a source that is not viable. I try and give a link to my sources ansd do not consider them "assignments", only references for those who wish to continue the de4bate.

I also believe the TPP is a place for exchange of ideas, not a mutual admiration society. Just because I don't share your affection for Ron Paul doesn't mean I am less of a Patriot than you or anyone else.

I find it disconcerting when people on this board use liberal sources to sling mud at conservative candidates, Like Ron Paul did when he quoted C.R.E.W to dsiss Santorum. Here's a link so you can see who Paul quotes:

http://www.citizensforethics.org/

I also believe Paul showed his true colors last night when he replied to the question if he would run as an independent when he said "I don't speak in absolutes".  In other words, he can't be trusted as he speaks in weasel words so he can't be pinned down, so how can you beleive anything he says?

No worries, Janet! We (as in TPP ppl) basically all want the same thing: the end of socialism/communism in the U.S. and the return to the Constitution. There is room to share lots of topics.

Our leaders are useless and I will rarely waste my time anymore contacting them--more interested in helping them lose their jobs. Would love to see them jailed, also, for their high crimes and misdemeanors and treason. Or at least deported to some lovely socialist "utopia" where they can lay in the bed they've been trying to make in the U.S.

We agree on more than we disagree on--we just need everyone to work toward some common goals.

Jennifer, I agree with everything you just said.......Now I hope we can continue to be cordial with one another......... That's all I ever want from anyone........... I think that you yourself know more than the average bear...........I have LOADS of information that I share with those who are ready................ At first they don't want to hear it..........I don't force it at all but tell them that when they are ready, I will gladly share it with them..........It's amazing how many people DON'T call me crazy anymore !............. Many of them are from the TPP and many are those who I have met at the grocery store, thrift shops, Home Depot, Lowes, etc............Thanks for all your work.......I really do appreciate it :-)

I think the most any of us can do in terms of writing info is to share links/sources we trust. And to quote them, so if the reader doesn't have time to wade through a book or magazine, they can visit pg # __ or a particular article on a website.

I don't know who--aside from Al--may have questioned your sources; but as you've noted, Al is not what one would call a "group" sort of person. I wouldn't worry too much if there are a few individuals who reject the issues you're interested in or the sources you use. All we can do is put the info out there and allow others the freedom to evaluate it. If a few people don't like it, so what. Others also read though they may not comment.

And we have to realize that what to us is obvious, may not be to others who haven't investigated a particular issue before. I run into this all the time with Islam; so many people don't understand the MB agenda. So I know I always have to start with square one to show them what is going on. If I start with square 16, I've already lost them.

We really, really have to remember the TPP mission statement and focus on that. That, at least for me, is why I'm here. I agree with every part of the mission statement, even if I may not see eye-to-eye with every person on individual bills/news stories.

There are so many areas where we need volunteers who are willing to support the overall TPP objectives. It might not be their own personal agenda, but we have to focus on the big picture here--which is if we don't actively support the Constitution, it will be completely trashed in the next few years. It's already looking pretty damaged.

Don't run off the main trail to chase a rabbit. You'll never make it to your destination.

Jennifer, Look, Maybe I'm not a good candidate for a TPP member because I get and have gotten my information from sources that would be considered "controversial" and "theoretical" (even though that's where I HAVE gotten my information for years which at this point has all started to come about !) .........I could express myself MUCH better and more fully and give my sources if "where" I get my information could be mentioned without being called names and ridiculed............I DON'T get it from any mainstream news stations, Rush, Glenn, or books written by those who "promote" NWO, CFR, etc, (I think they are somewhat skewed) or from sources who don't care to look at controversial issues fully !

Comment by Jennifer Groves on January 8, 2012 at 1:57pm

Janet, I'm not just addressing you. But I am saying that you would get more support for your concerns if you're actively engaged in volunteering with the Tea Party. You've made it clear that it bothers you that you don't think people are listening to you.

It just doesn't help to say "I told you so" (your earlier post)--and frankly, it doesn't win many supporters. What helps is to share specific, attributed info.

Please, don't tell everyone to "look up _________". We probably don't have time. If you've already looked it up, write a blog, quote specific paragraphs, share some links, print a one-page flyer to have available at the meetings. That helps. But we still need to also be aware that what really drives one person to insanity may not have the same effect on the next guy.

Since you follow certain issues that are obviously of concern to you, you probably have the background to understand the history of those issues. Others don't share that same background, so they will not necessarily be alarmed by the things that alarm you. Show us, for example--with documented proof--why Bill X or the latest FDA power grab bothers you.

We're all bothered by the liberal agenda and at this point, it should be abundantly clear to every American that our government has been--and continues to be--engaged in multiple conspiracies against the American people.

Volunteering is great (as long as it's not government-mandated or in support of a socialist agenda ;-). I don't doubt you've spent a lot of time volunteering--just not specifically for the Tea Party. So don't be too surprised if the group in general doesn't respond well to criticism--active members get it all the time, but when we ask those same individuals to help, or ask them to volunteer to implement their own ideas and concerns, they refuse. They want someone else to do it.

We don't have "someone else". We have us. That's it. Sherry doesn't have time to pursue everyone else's concerns. Harry doesn't have time. Neither do I or anyone else in the planning group. Doesn't mean we aren't concerned, it just means that if you want to bring an issue to the table, have a plan of action and be prepared to volunteer not just to implement that plan, but to be the lead person organizing and following through on it.

We've existed now for three years and we're in a volatile election year (assuming BO doesn't declare martial law before Nov--he certainly has the "laws" in place to do so now). Yet, the core group has remained essentially the same since the beginning (and now we've lost a couple members of that group). We are short-handed, so if everyone wants to see more conservative "change", every member who is physically able to help will have to "just do it".

It would be a great resolution for 2012, for everyone. If anyone wants to know what help is needed, feel free to message me on this site and I'm sure all of the planning group would welcome inquiries from volunteers--and ideas and how to implement them.

Albaby, Have you looked up, read, watched ALL the sites I have given you on this site ?

"Page number or something ?".............Maybe you should read the assignments I have already given you first ! ..................NDAA is long and intimidating (for a reason) the ones who passed it prabably didn't even read it..............It is worded in such a way that in can be used any way they want to use it ?

You should have been at the TPP meeting the other night ! (or maybe you were ?)

The discription of NDAA has been on several stations and all over the Internet. The majority of the OTHER TPP members seem to be aware............

I read the "condensed" versions of issues because that gives me more time to read about "all" the issues ;-) and not just the ones against Ron Paul or other candidates...........But more on the ISSUES at stake !

Jennifer said,

"I really, REALLY wish others would volunteer to research and write succinct summaries about issues, with lots of links so we can check out the issues in whatever detail we want to."

Jennifer, I think you are doing an "amazing" job on this site...........I have no problem with you at all...............I want you to know that I do VOLUNTEER my time in ways that you'll never know and have been doing so for many, many years (before it was popular and before the TPP)

Do I have to VOLUNTEER through the TPP for it to count ?.........Sometimes volunteering  is best done out among the public in grocery stores, resale shops, Lowes, Home Depot, Church, etc, etc, which I DO ALL THE TIME !!

I would hope that you wouldn't take everything so personally..........It was obvious that I was addressing Albaby and NOT the whole TPP................I even said that the majority of the TPP were aware of NDAA............What do you want from me ?

Comment by Jennifer Groves on January 8, 2012 at 12:28pm

Janet--

You have to realize the TPP group is not about you. I'm going to say--yet again--the TPP is entirely grassroots and VOLUNTEER--something that I have yet to see you do.

It does absolutely no good for the group to have members complaining about this issue or that issue. I totally agree that the NDAA is a terrible law--ranks right up there with Obamacare--and, unbeknownst to you, many of us DID call/contact our reps. And yes, other laws can be passed to make the treasonous arrest/detainment bit invalid.

ALL of our reps--particularly here in MI--have NO interest in representing the people. On a fed level, calling has very little effect due to the dictatorial socialist agenda that Obama et al are so clearly forcing on Americans--even though we have stated, and shown, via elections and marches to DC in historically unprecedented numbers--that we want NO part of their agenda. I'm not saying don't call, but some of us have been calling for years and clearly that does nothing to remove communists from office.

Individual issues energize me, because they so clearly reveal the evil of the regime and their hatred of the Constitution. But we will not really impact on individual issues because they don't listen. Haven't been for years now.

Since Twin Cities has only a dozen or so active, VOLUNTEER members, we have to pick our battles. And the battle we've chosen is to dump our reps. They will be the ones proposing new laws in the future.

We can't strain at every issue as a group. Realize that some of the issues that to you are most important may not be so major to the next guy (e.g. food regulations/diet-related issues). Every single one of us prioritizes our issues differently.

Which is why, as a group, we focus on the central issue: the liberal agenda to destroy the Constitution and this country.

I really, REALLY wish others would volunteer to research and write succinct summaries about issues, with lots of links so we can check out the issues in whatever detail we want to.

To do a thorough job of this requires, at times, 8-20 hrs of research. Took me forever to make the flyer on internet control. It's only one page long, because working people cannot possibly keep up with all the . . . junk DC spews our way. But one page of quotes from the actual bill, along with links to the bill itself, means reading--and undertstanding-- the entire bill.

People need the ability to wade through a ton of legalese, bills 500-2000 pgs long, and distill the important points (like the omission of a clause that exempts Americans from arrest without cause and indefinite "detainment"). THAT is helpful. But neither I--nor anyone else in the Twin Cities group--gets paid to do that. And we're not all retired. We simply can't devote 20 hrs/wk to chasing all the evil in DC.

If you want to help, you need to start reading the bills that concern you. Write about them. Quote from the direct source; give page numbers; include links so everyone can check it out; give some background and links to pertinent blogs on the topic. Make up one page flyers and have them available at meetings.

If you're not willing to do this, don't expect anyone to take you seriously. Frankly, some of your "top" issues are not my top issues. Some of them are not top issues for the Twin Cities group as a whole.

To all of our able-bodied members who prefer to complain instead of help--please, pay attention to the volunteer opportunities presented at every single monthly meeting. VOLUNTEER if you want to see change. If you have a particular issue/topic that you think the group should know about and be concerned about, WRITE a CONCISE summary and share it online and at the meetings--and make a plan of action. Be prepared to follow up on your ideas and see if anyone else in the group can help. Don't be a delegator--BE A DO-ER.

The dozen or so of us who are active can't add more to our plates. We're all here to support the Constitution. Let's all try to remember that.

As our banner says, "So, what are YOU going to do this year?" Seriously, WHAT?

Janet, care to tell us what in the NDAA is bothering you? Maybe people like me would understand. Please give a page number or something.
