Berrien County Board- why change what works

Well for those of us 3 that made the berrien county board may have caught them off guard a bit, as we brought our case for reducing the board from 13 to 12, even though the board has no formal power in that decesion they did mas a motion of the 13 members 3 were absent 1 abstained the rest voted too keep or recommend 13 be kept. And yes the board talked of little saving of real money, the work load they have as part timmers. I am sorry we have a full time county administrator who works with the department heads to run the county. Well the comissioners do set p[olicy they  really are not there in the day to day operations.

  I was taken that 30k  ayear is no real savings with the inpending 1.1 million dollar loss in revenue sharing that is comming.The vote on Tue may 31st at 6pm is important it will be decided by 5 people, the county procutor, county clerk, county treasuror, head of republican and democratic parties. Oour problem is the old time thinking republican thinking that we should not change so much for the conservative view i think.

  The last election cycle and the birth of the Tea Party was to bring down the cost and size of government and there influnce or intrusion in our lives.n We have a great oppertunity to save just a little and we should support the reapportionment comittee in this effort. this chane is only  done every 10 years after the cencus, it not mandated that we reduce but a realigemnet of comission seats would occur as the population has shifted and there is a formula too follow by law. Not by land area, value , race only the pop[ulation from the cencus so the cencus was important.

  So lets come out and support the 12 comissionor plan, We te tea party can make a difference.  thanks  Greg Kovacs
