Gay Rights Group: Home Depot is “Secret Weapon”

From American Family Association:

“The nation's largest pro-homosexual activist group, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), credited Home Depot for helping it pass gay marriage in New York State last week.

“Calling it the "most aggressive state legislative advocacy campaign ever," HRC it [sic] pumped more than $1 million into the effort. Just after the gay marriage bill passed, HRC issued an email asking "What was the secret weapon behind this incredible achievement?" It went on to say that "a group of dedicated HRC Partners who fueled the fight for marriage equality by providing the resources."

“Home Depot is one of those HRC "partners." HRC's secret weapon in passing gay marriage was Home Depot! Home Depot's own website says it "is honored to say we support" HRC and other pro-gay marriage groups.”

Home Depot has sponsored “Kid’s Workshops” at gay festivals and parades, allowed employees to wear “gay pride” buttons--while firing a Christian employee for wearing a “One Nation Under God” button. Home Depot does not support the Pledge of Allegiance.

HD Chair Frank Blake issued this statement when presented with 500,000 signatures requesting that HD stop supporting the LGBT lobby:

"I hope all of our shareholders understand that we're a company that respects the diversity of our associates, our customers, and the communities where we do business."

There are at least half a dozen fed agencies that I would like to see bulldozed, including the DoE.

Certainly Home Depot can support whoever they want--they don't seem to realize the connection between the so-called "gay rights" groups and their militant insistence that taxes be used to support their agenda of teaching homosexual "values" in schools and elsewhere--again with the use of tax dollars.

There are many Americans who do not support the gay rights groups, myself included. We can only boycott those businesses if we know which ones they are--hence the posts.

The "tolerant" HRC group was part of the crew that blasted Chik-fil-A for providing a lunch for people who attended a Christian marriage seminar. HRC and other gay groups went absolutely ballistic, screaming for boycotts and penning the most hate-filled vitriol I've ever read.

The First Amendment violation comes in because gay lobbies work to prohibit the free exercise of religion--particularly Christianity. If a Christian business owner is told he must hire homosexuals and acknowledge their marriages by extending all benefits--including health care--to the other partner--that violates his core religious values.

What a lot of politicians and others have a hard time understanding today is that "religion" is not confined to a pew in a church or a seat in a synagogue. They use a 21st century liberal (as in Dem) definition--the one that attempts to make "religion" into a 4 letter word.

In the 18th century, "religion" was synonymous with spirituality and faith and understood to include life principles and values. It is these values that gay "rights" groups are intent on destroying (part of their attempt to force others to agree with their  values). They crossed the First Amendment line when they organized as political lobbies and began to push their agenda to control public schools and demand that businesses be forced--by law--to support their values.

Hi Ms. Groves - thank you for this discussion.

I believe the core of this particular issue is rights and liberties.  As the eloquent New York Republican State Senator said when he voted in favor of gay marriage, he couldn't see denying rights to his fellow Americans that he himself enjoyed.  I myself don't feel pressured to think like they do or accept their behavior and I don't see any plot to trample anyone's 1st Amendment Rights.

Let's review the 1st Amendment.  Here it is:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

If you know of anybody trying to take those rights away from you, please let us know - we need to do something about that.

Per your suggestion I Googled Kevin Jennings. Wow, what a can of worms that was!  Looks like he's somewhere between a civil rights leader and a kiddie diddler, depending on whichever web page opens up on your screen. I'm willing to forgo jumping into that arena and instead go to what I think is the bigger picture.  And you touched on it when you mentioned the use of your tax dollars.  Here's where the libertarian in me comes front and center:

Why are our tax dollars even paying for a federal Dept. of Education? Can you think of one thing the Fed DOE does that the 50 States, each with their own DOEs, don't already do for themselves? I cannot.

Before he was President, Reagan used to rail against the Fed DOE. Why didn't he make good on his promise to eliminate it? Isn't it ironic the guy who was his DOE czar for 3 years, Bill Bennett, now puts himself out there as some sort of conservative?  Did Bennett ever once propose shutting it down? Or would that have endangered his salary and the pension and health benefits you can bet you and I are still paying?

And if the DOE had been wiped from the pages of history,  would Bush have had the vehicle to impose 'No Child Left Behind' on the states' education systems? And of course: no DOE means Obama had one less bureaucrat to burden us with - gay or otherwise.

We sure do need to rethink a lot of basic assumptions about this Republic of ours.

Individuals have the liberty in this country to live as they see fit--as long as they're not harming others.

The LGBT lobby is another story altogether. It is not about "equal rights"--it's about homosexuals insisting that everyone think like they do and accept their behavior as a cultural and biological norm.

That's where their crusade ends--when it tramples on my First Amendment rights. I don't have to agree with them. And I certainly don't have to accept my tax dollars being used to promote their beliefs.

Mr Smith, I don't know how aware you are of the agenda that LGBT political groups are pushing. Google Kevin Jennings, the "Safe" School czar, and you will see just how insistent groups like GLSEN (Jennings founded it) are in promoting homosexuality--and using tax dollars to do so. Jennings is the Obama-approved czar to push homosexuality in public schools--Jennings even created a curriculum for sex ed for KINDGERGARTENERS. Maybe you agree with that and believe 5 yr olds need sex ed. Psychology teaches differently--sex ed should not even be on the radar for that age group.

Jennings has also written in support of NAMBLA--the North American Man-Boy Love Assn. Are you OK with pedophilia? and someone who accepts pedophillia shaping the public school sex ed curriculum? I'm not.

You can also find other postings about Jennings and the homosexual lobby on this site. Feel free to learn about their public agenda.

Homosexuals can "live free" in this country unmolested. Now if they would only extend that same courtesy and respect to those who don't agree with their lifestyle. The LGBT groups do NOT.

Ms. Groves, thank you for highlighting Home Depot's efforts in the gay rights crusade.  As patriotic Americans clamoring for liberty, justice and equal rights for all Americans we Tea Partiers should be glad somebody in this country's business community takes liberty seriously and is willing to put their money where their mouth is.

As the banner in your avatar states: 'Live Free or Die!"
