I have sent this one on to the Herald Palladium, hoping to see my first letter in the paper....
A Love Letter from a TEA drinker:
What is really behind those goofy signs and that strange flag with a snake, (of all things), on it? Well after spending some time with them, I think I now know what makes those people tick. At first, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but then I experienced it for myself. It’s love. Plain and simple. A deep appreciation for a gift often overlooked. Examining just a small portion of our history, one quickly finds that the founding fathers indeed got it right. Whether you believe it was divinely inspired or not, the result is undeniable; freedom from oppression and our guaranteed protection of certain rights. From this delicate balance of power, we here in America have been blessed with the highest standard of living in the world. However, this invaluable gift is perishable. From time to time people will become agitated and lured from our founding practices. And another group will be charged with the task of pointing it out. That’s it! The TEA Party movement has nothing to do with hate for another. On the contrary, it’s about love for a country that provides that precious freedom and protection to even the folks we disagree with. The corny people at the TEA Party’s are primarily pointing to one thing. That our God given gifts of freedom and liberty should always outweigh the promises and seductive handouts from government. Our founding fathers have challenged us to use principles first to solve our problems. To love one another and not legislate one another. Although it is not a guarantee, history shows overwhelmingly that America can meet such a challenge.
