Liberty and Freedom

I had to look up Prop 1 Whether to have a Con-Con on the Michigan state constitution, on the net to see what it was all about. I found out both Gubernatorial candidates are against it as well as the Chamber of Commerce. The anticipated cost of $ 45million to our state's tax payers is also a big negative. Granholm is for it(shudder)! Some say it is a way to get the Fair Tax in Michigan, but I suppose an amendment to the Consitution would be a more cost effective way to accomplish that. Just wondered what the feelings are about this proposal in the ranks of my Tea Party friends, is anyone else for Porp 1?

A con con throws open the doors to any and all changes to the Constitution, even to the point of scrapping it altogether. The easiest, safest fixes are amendments. Just take a look at the latest news stories of voter fraud going on now, imagine the Soros resources being thrown into the mix of a state Con Con! They are desperate to win and if they cannot beat us during the elections they will find other ways to reach their objectives. I say absolutely NO to a Con Con either state or federal.

Wish I could go too. Jim, when would the concon convene? Could it become infected with the progressive liberal actividiots? Everyone here is very afraid that it will get hijacked by them and everything is on the table during a convention. I think almost everyone has that same fear. We also worry about the actividiots stealing the election again. We have some instances of BS down here already.

Thank you James for taking the time to share this with me. Yes I can see both sides of the aurgument, and I repect your opinion! I wish that I could come to the town hall, but the band I am in, the Southshore Concert Band is rehearsing tomorrow night , preparing for a very important Veteran's Day concert with the Lest We Forget bunch. These guys(our Vets) come first. Hope your meeting goes great!
Thanks again

That's why we're having a ConCon Town Hall on Thursday @ the Fetzer Center from 7-9pm. My general feeling is that the majority of TPP are against Prop 1 - I am for it. A perfect storm of economic turmoil, liberals on the run and conservative/constitutionalists on the rise has provided us the opportunity to make real and lasting change - a 'reset' if you will.
The primary opposition claim is that it will cost upwards of $50 million. I have never seen an accounting of where that number came from. Secondarily, fear seems to be a motivating factor as well. Fear that some 'outside' group will come in, propose some wacky deal, the delegates will approve it, then the electorate will vote it in. Could happen, I doubt what could be proposed would be much worse than what is currently in place, but I've been surprised before.
Please, invite your friends to tomorrow's event.
