I am 26 years old and I have been a resident of Ross Township, living in Yorkville, for the past 7 years. I am an Eagle Scout, and I spent 13 years in the Boy Scouts. I am a student at Kalamazoo Valley Community College as well as Western Michigan University where I am studying Geology. I served as a board member of Green Earth Michigan, a registered nonprofit organization, with the goal of promoting and educating the community in advanced technology that will create a solution to lead Michigan into energy independence. I am committed to serving my district by representing our needs at the county board meetings, and by reflecting our needs by enacting legislature and voting to see that our needs are met. I believe it is the duty of every citizen who is legally able to vote, to do so. Every citizen, no matter their circumstances in life or status, should receive the best education possible. Civic virtues are important to instill into our young developing minds, to prevent further corruption in the world. The children of our community are our future, and their education and safety is of utmost importance to me. I believe in the separation of powers, or a prohibitive system of checks and balances not allowing one group to have too much power. A great example would be the Incompatible Offices Act, whereas one public officer or employee can not hold another public office at the same time. A fair flat tax would best represent American's on every level and should be implemented immediately to cease the grandiose power of our federal government and its unfair taxation. The federal government must not violate the rights of the states. More importantly The Bill of Rights needs to be upheld to protect the rights of the individual. Ultimately our local government should uphold The Bill of Rights, and the federal government should be as distant as possible.

Good statement.  I also support the FairTax or a flat income tax if we cannot get to the FairTax.
