Five students from Live Oak High School (Morgan Hill, CA) were sent home on the fifth day of May for showing “cultural disrespect” toward Mexican-American students by wearing T-shirts displaying a United States flag.

The Mexican students were the ones showing disrespect toward the United States. On May 7, Mexican-American students staged a protest, “offended” by the lack of “respect” the patriotic students showed.

If Mexican-Americans cannot and do not consider themselves Americans, then they need to return to Mexico. They need to respect the United States or leave. Americans have been tolerating “cultural disrespect” of our own country for FAR too long.

Yes, we need background checks on everyone who applies for citizenship. We don't need more crime in this country--doesn't matter what country they want to immigrate from.

What bothers me most is that immigrants--even legal ones--are really not required to know much about American history or that for over 200 years it's been mostly European ancestry people who have fought and died for American liberty. Most of the illegals coming in have no respect for America or our past and that is criminal.

I lived for 3 1/2 yrs in Tucson in the mid-late 1990s. My first year of residency, Tucson had the highest murder rate per capita of any city in the U.S. And 90+% of those murders were in South Tucson near the I-10 corridor, otherwise known as Drug Express (Mexico to Tucson to Phoenix to L.A.). The vast majority of the population in that area of town was Hispanic, mostly Mexican descent, and many were involved in the drug trade. I don't know what percentage were illegals, but I'm sure a lot of them were.

We have too much crime--and not enough taxpayers--in this country already. We don't need more.

I had someone today tell me the "new" law in Arizona is racial profiling and that there "has to be a better way". This was my response:

"I suggest you move to Arizona then and place your kids among the gangs and drug cartels who show no mercy to Americans in the name of their god, money. Do you support the innocent slaughter of ranchers? That is called murder and it's brought to you and me courtesy of illegal immigrants. This law is an unfortunate but neccesary casualty of war and that is what this is when UCLA professors call for a Mexican revolt within the United States. Everyday another American family goes on welfare, which you and I have to pay for because greedy illegals will work cheap in order to reap benefits from our pockets that they haven't earned. I don't mind living modestly and I will even give money to those who are less fortunate but I refuse to accept that ignorance is a better way. Rules are in place for a reason. If someone wants to come into this country legally and learn English - I don't have a problem. But when they do so illegally for the purpose of causing chaos and bringing in drugs, you'd better bet they are going to have to expect opposition. :) It's not about the fact they are Mexican, it's about the fact they are not going about citizenship through the proper channels."
