Remind Republican Party - They Need to Earn Our Support

Please keep reminding everyone that we in the Tea party movement are NOT Republicans with a large “R” we are republicans with a small “r” as in … “and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, - under God - indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.

I have been watching the national Republican Party leaders crowing loudly about the victory by Scott Brown over Democrat Martha Coakley in the special election held last Tuesday for the US Senate seat left vacant by the death of Ted Kennedy. They are all over television predicting a loss for the Democrats in a virtual “tsunami” that will sweep them to power in November with control of the House of Representatives and possibly even the Senate.

It is pitiful and disgusting. They are strutting all over the place with new confidence, claiming to be involved and in tune with the Tea Party movement. Suddenly they are throwing their arms around their newest Senate member in camaraderie, thrusting their “V” for victory signs in the air, and anointing themselves the ultimate beneficiary of the grassroots movement that has risen up in anger at the Obama administration – all the while totally oblivious to the fact that they are themselves still just as distrusted, despised and discredited in the eyes of most American voters as the Democrats.

Newt Gingrich, Michael Steele and John McCain - to name a few, are like hypocrites at a Southern Baptist revival meeting. They claim to have found religion. They swear that they want forgiveness for their past wrongs, if only we will trust them and return them to power they will go forth and sin no more. Hallelujah!!

Our message to them should be simple. We do NOT trust you. The fact that Tea Party groups across the country united and got involved in the Massachusetts Senate election was not a referendum on the Republican Party versus the Democrat Party, it was a simple fact that Scott Brown was the only weapon “we the people” had at the time to stop the government takeover of our health care system - short of a violent revolution.

It is NOT that we want Republicans in power and a return to a McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Leiberman type of government. For God’s sake we wish that McCain himself would just go away and take all of his “moderate” reach-across-the-aisle, Rodney King style, can’t-we-all-just-get-along RINO’s with him. They don’t realize it but they are destroying the Constitution just like the Democrats. Every time they “compromise” on legislation that takes away our states rights and individual liberties they give the federal government more power to control our lives.

Right now we are at a crisis situation in our nation’s history. We are terribly concerned citizens who see our country literally being destroyed by our elected leaders – in both parties – and we are struggling to find the right path to keep that destruction from occurring. Unfortunately we are a two-party system and historically third party movements do nothing but hurt those who are trying to make a difference. Remember Ross Perot? His third party political movement gave us Bill Clinton. Therefore, most Tea Party people see the Republican Party as simply the lesser of two evils, and unfortunately the only way to stop the total destruction of our nation is to use the Republican Party as a weapon to halt the Obama/Democrat assault.

However, they must NOT take this as an endorsement of the Republican Party. Instead they need to understand clearly that in this dire emergency situation we are using them as a convenient weapon. Think of it as being forced to pick up the nearest rock when attacked.

Or even better, consider Franklin Roosevelt in World War II, he used Josef Stalin and the evil communist Soviet Union to stop Hitler and the Third Reich. America armed them, propped them up, and was forced to endure the humiliation of being in bed with a dictator comparable to Hitler himself. He was a total monster ... but he was our monster, and we needed him at the time.

As far as most Tea Party conservatives are concerned the complacent and compliant "moderate" Republican Party has been a monster for what they have allowed to happen to the Constitution - and our liberties and freedoms over the years. But right now the Republican Party is our monster, and we need them. They are our only weapon in this dire fight.

But they must remember that we are only using them as a weapon of expediency. They must change their ways, or just like the corrupt Soviet Union their days are limited as well.

Great analysis. I saw a new left wing commentator on Fox News last week that I think does understand what is going on. He also noted that the GOP is crowing about 'their' victories, BUT he thinks that anyone with a (i) for incumbent next to their name is in trouble this year! And I think he is correct.
