Hi all, if you were wondering what I've been doing lately, (yeah, right!) this is it. I'm trying to knit together the national security activists in MI. This is the first (that we know of) of it's kind- a reverse town hall meeting, where the citizens are bringing the experts to the town, and giving everyone time to speak, followed by a Q&A. Hopefully, this will push the elected officials (invited of course) to show up and be accountable, and learn some thing too, as the Obama admin is running fast and hard, hoping that noone notices....
Here we go-----
Act for America’s new Kalamazoo chapter announces an opportunity to STAND UP and voice your opinions at a unique “reverse” town hall meeting on August 20th in Standish, Michigan! (details below)
State of Michigan officials, Department of Defense officials and Department of Homeland Security officials are not providing timely information to the local officials and citizens, so we are bringing in the experts to get some answers. In fact, a top Obama “advance team” visited Standish last week, assessing this “possibility” in person. There is clearly a well organized and hurried effort to “push” this issue along with a minimum of press coverage/public awareness. Defending the best interests of the Standish residents is paramount; many have no idea of the dangers such a move would create in this state.
The Act for America Kalamazoo chapter would like to invite you to attend a town hall meeting this Thursday in Standish, Michigan, to discuss the proposal to transfer the Guantanamo detainees to the prison in Standish, Michigan. The program, organized by a group of concerned Michigan residents including ACT! for America volunteers, will be held August 20 at 12:00 noon, in Resurrection of the Lord Church, 423 W. Cedar St., Standish, Michigan. The forum is open to the community. We anticipate both local and national media coverage.
The town hall will include brief presentations by our three speakers and a question and answer session on the relevant legal, economic and security issues that could affect the Standish area community, the State of Michigan and the nation as a whole.
Slated to speak are U.S. Representative Peter Hoekstra (R-Holland), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, David Littmann, Senior Economist, Mackinac Center for Public Policy, and Debra Burlingame, Founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America.
Do Americans really want Islamist radical terrorists housed on US soil? The answer is NO.
If you can make it, help us make it clear that keeping Michigan citizens in the dark is not the answer to making a good decision that affects state tourism, our shaky economy and ultimately, our families’ safety!
I’ll be there to assist with logistics, and I’d be honored if you could join me there as an educated citizen. Please feel free to contact me via cell if you have questions or want to help! Bring signs like “Tourists; not Terrorists!” That would really make a statement! Your U.S. flag would be more than appropriate as well!
Thank you,
Beth Griffin, Act4fw@verizon.net
